Its time to upgrade my Nokia 8210. Haven't really been keeping up to date on the new mobiles around. Can anyone recommend something nice to replace it with ? I prefer Nokias and it must have infra-red.
Whats that one with the colour display ? Sony Ericsson one I think ?

New Samsung T100 is rather good...
I've got the Siemens SL45 - this is a wicked phone (MP3, dictaphone, VoiceDial, Multimedia card - will store any PC file too, syncs with your address book in Outlook!!!
There's a new version too - can't remember what it is though.
If it's any comparison, I've always had Nokias. Changed to the Siemens and will NEVER go back to Nokia. IMHO, Nokia are very poor quality in comparison to both the Siemens and the Samsung (the wife's got the A300 Dual Screen)....
I also looked at the Sony (felt as though it would snap in half in my back pocket!!) and the Ericson just wasn't my cup of tea.
Hope this helps

6310i (when it actually appears on Orange) is supposed to be good. I am (unfortunately) tied into Nokias 'cos of two car kits in the cars. I do like the OS though and have not treid Siemens.

I have an 8210 as well. Do not really like the T68. It is a bit clunky to use IMO. I'm thinking about getting a Nokia 7210 when it comes out.

why? I admit it has a better colour screen but feature wise it's not in the same league and have you seen the standby time and talk time. The T68i will last 5 days between charges with light usage.

I'll agree with ScoobyDoo555 - after owning Nokias for most of my adult life, I switched to a Siemens S45 last time around, and have been very impressed with it.

Siemens SL45 has to be the best phone I have seen. I know the new colour screen phones look the biz, but for build quality and features the Siemens kicks ***. Being able to update your diary via Outlook is brill, and having a bit of music to brighten up your day doesn't hurt either.
If you must have a colour screen I'd go for the Samsung, I know its got crap battery life and it doesn't have bluetooth. The T68 is the most flimsy nasty feeling piece of poo. I was genuinely shocked when I first held one, I thought it was falling to bits the whole thing creaked and the cover twisted in my grip, and the keys were nasty to use also.

i used to be a nokia fan - i've had nearly all the 6xxx series of phones but the last models were buggy and annoying... so i'm jumping over to sony as i am a bigger sony fan and the t68i has loadsa wicked features .

Just picked up a 6510 today Well pleased with funtions, ease of use and quality of calls, etc.
Samsumg, may have percieved quality but personal experience suggests otherwise. Nothing but trouble.
Ericsson - do they design a lack of functionality on purpose
Motorola - quality??? LOL.....I know a man who makes them . V70 looks the part though.
Siemens - yeah, cool kit, but still don't think as user friendly.
Just my opinion, of course

Nokia still have the upper hand in user friendliness. Sony/Ericcson may have all the gadgets but they still cant get some of the basics correct. The vibrate function on the T68i is pants, the message alerts are a waste of time (3 options IIRC). Also mine locked up whilst sending a multiple page SMS the other day - had to remove battery.
Screen is nice, tri-band is good, camera is a gimmick, games are v.slow.
Still it is better than my 8210. 7110 before that was great but just too big.

the last couple of nokia's are user friendly - but soo slow (when traversing the menus..) constant random crashing, random signal cutting out etc.. (this isn't just my phone, other friends with nokia's are experiencing the same issues...) anyway i thought its time for a change, and as everyone seems to have nokia's i'd thought id be different...
i got mine on contract from www.clubmobile.co.uk - have a look about on the web for mobile phones, there are loadsa places you can get them from, i've just used clubmobile the last couple of times and they are always really good.. or try talking to orange or whoever directly and blag it, most of the companies will offer you discount if you are good customer...

Just got meself a Samsung T100 and its great.
The phone itself is a bit childish, but the colour screens ability to let you upload pics of your car on to your phones display just wins the day over.
Then again it does have a ringtone in the sound of a cow's moo.
