Can we make a list up on how too knacker them :-
1. JCB (as above)
2. Tyre soaked in petrol, wrapped around it and torched (maybe as above).
3. Angle grinder - my fave.
4. Shotgun
5. Sticky glue/paint combo etc thrown at it ??

I've put a lot of though into this and my fave method should I ever get the chance/courage would be.
Drill four holes through the lid for ventilation, pour in 2 litres of petrol, stick a wick in the hole, set light to the wick and retire to watch the fire/explosion. I'm not too sure if the thing would burn slowly melting the components inside, or if it would explode, either way would get the job done.
If anyone can see any obvious flaws in my plan let me know.

...now that the 1st of July has been passed, and the authorities participating in the "hypothecation scheme" must by law make their GATSOs visible, surely some public spirited person could produce the following:
A large 3ft by 3ft by 4ft (intentionally not metric!) opaque plastic bag in orange or yellow, that could be placed over the GATSO as a "hood" to clearly identify any remaining grey ones.
...this would result in no criminal damage whatsoever, and might even stop them going rusty!
