Just heard on the radio that some rail safety comission have decided that train fares should rise in order to discourage people from using trains and avoid overcrowding!
Well hellooooo, would it not be better to perhaps lay more trains on..... trains with more carriages / seats perhaps? Doesn't take a f*ckin genius to work it out

Simple really - get people off the trains and into their cars, so they can be taxed a bit more and penalised if they go 1 mph over the speed limit.
I think it's high time Tony and his bunch of clowns cleared their desks

Transport, who needs transport. Not us people travelling 100s of miles every week. I wouldn't mind getting a high speed train to work, but wait a sec, we don't have any.

Been on the French one. First time out, the doors wouldn't open for about 20 minutes, and a lady near me said " Ce n'est pas un TGV, c'est un 2CV!"

I never said it worked! I said in France there is one!
BTW, did you know the top speed is over 520 km/h, yes, that's right, over 520 km/h, nothing on wheels goes that fast, BUT that they only go 300 km/h with it? LOL Frogs...

Yep, been on the one that did 500+kph, also in the cab, talking to a driver.
When they did that, it was a special run, shortened train, and chose the power cars with the biggest wheel diameter for max kph.
They're now thinking of 350 kph as max line speed.
If they go above that, current consumption outdoes the revenue, and they lose money. The system is brilliant though. Would that we had anything like, or even a government with the guts to start the ball rolling.........

Hehe, that thing must use a lot of energy!
It's not that big of a difference anyway, from Marseille to Paris 350 instead of 300 would mean 20 minutes less approx. 400 kph is another story
I read this funny article once where they asked a TGV driver what kind of animals he had already hit! He said 2 dogs having sex on the rails (!!!), a sheep, and a colleague of his a HORSE!!!!!! He also said he once got passed on the highway by a red car, checked his speedometer, he was going 300 kph, car pulled away! Bye bye TGV... LOL

Wot about the driver of a classic freight train between Avignon and Lyon who stood in his cab doorway at about 80kph for a sl*sh (French loco's don't have toilets for driver). The loco lurched, he hung on with one hand (!!!) but swung out of the doorway, and a catenary wire took his leg off at the knee !!!!!!! Apparently he survived by dint of a belt touniquet, and now works on admin at Avignon depot.
True, 'cos I got it from "La vie du rail".
