I've got a MY02 S3 - have owned a scoob MY99 PPP and MY01 in the past. If he has any specific questions I'll try and answer them - btw MY99 with PPP was more fun to drive than the S3 IMO, but S3 beats a standard MY01..again IMHO. (22B kicks all their ***** though )
Audi-sport.net is terribly snobby - but then again so are many Audi owners - it's all about the badge..easily understood when you realise the same drivetrain and engine are available in the Seat for alot less cash (ignoring small differences)
Chuck(Ok I too bought into the badge LOL)

Was looking at buying an S3 at the same time as the scoob so spent a lot of time on Audi Net. I dont think there is an approved ECU upgrade as such like with Prodrive but a lot of people get their S3's chipped. Most give a 45bhp increase and can be switched on and off by a cruise control stalk (installed if you havent got one). A chipped S3 should beat an MY00 0-100mph. Amd seem pretty popular. But as Chuck says hang out on Audi Net as loads of people have already done it.

Technically any 'chip' upgrade will invalidate the warranty. However a number of official dealers will turn a blind eye to it, and even broker the deal. IIRC they use AMD to do the tuning/chipping - thats a good question for the audi-sport board.
My local dealer (Whitehouse in Essex) isn't one of those though
Regarding the cars withstanding the extra torque - well there are few reports of sudden and early clutch failure - Formula Audi Palmer use the 1.8T engine running 300+bhp and the engine seems up for it. All the guys on the BBS love their AMD/APR/MTM upgrades.

Chuckster.
He has a question regarding upgrading the performance.
He wants to get an approved ECU Upgrade & wonders which one to get & also if it makes much difference (ie is it worth doing) & also if the standard car can cope with a lot of extra torque ?
Thanks
Ro.
