After a hundred years, thought I’d treat myself to new car ,VW Up GTI.

6 frigging months wait ! Sod that. How many companies have lost business with these waits?

It's pretty messed up, it's keeping used car prices high too (especially in Europe), so those looking at something a few years old are also paying through the nose. Not helped by these ULEZ in various cities across the globe causing locals to panic buy newer cars.

Our Snap-On tool salesman has been waiting for his new truck for over 12months now (7.5t Atego). Coachbuilder finally has the chassis-cab, but some parts are on back order so it's still being delayed.

Imagine paying for something you're not going to see for over a year?

Screw that. I just bought a new Smart Car, picked the one I wanted online and drove it home four days later. I'd never have gone through with it if I had a year to consider it, that's a long time to stay drunk.

I've bought most of my cars on impulse, so 12months of buyer's remorse would definitely mean I'd back out before the delivery date

Someone backing out is probably the reason mine was available, EV's cost a lot more to run now than a year ago which no doubt helped me get a fair discount and a great trade in. Only makes sense for me as it's a little battery and I have spare solar I currently give away.
