Good morning.
We have one bottle left from father-in -laws collection of Harveys Bristol Cream.
A blue bottle, full and sealed.
L - 72461
NF 16230490 Jerez Xeres Sherry
On the base of the bottle F H 26

Is this enough to date the sherry ? I assume the 72 is 1972 ?
I have to ask, is there any value to the sherry ?

Just done a bit of googling for you (and my own interest)!

It seems the blue bottles have only been around since 1994, although there may have been some special editions prior to that in blue bottles.

The L-Code will usually give away the bottling date, but is manufacturer specific and may not be public knowledge. The most common 5 digit codes are yyddd, dddyy or ywwdd, but your code wouldn't be valid on any of those formats.

Harveys Bristol Cream is a pretty mainstream blended sherry, so there is generally little rarity or collectable value - but I'm not an expert, so don't take my word for it! If its older than 5 years in the bottle, then its probably past its best for drinking!

Many thanks for that, I had tried Google but nothing specific hence the question.
We do know that it was a bottle (one of many) that father-in-law collected, he worked for Harveys all his working life apart from the WWII RAF stint and didn't have rubbish so I will continue with the search. No, not going to drink it !

It could well be one of the special edition blue bottles before they became the standard then! Does the bottle have a standard label on it? are there any decorations on the bottle?
Any value will be based on rarity, so it would have to be something extra special to have any significant value!

Does look like a pretty standard bottle from the 90s and the label and seal don't look in particularly good condition which will negatively affect the value. Could have been one of the first blue bottles from '94 which may have been why he kept it.

Probably not! Benedictine bottle that's in such bad condition, you can barely tell what it is. It also looks like it's been opened, at least from the volume of liquid that is in it!

That’s true , they must be pretty good getting cork and lead back in place though
