Default Motor factors

Is it my imagination , or is every online factor you've ever heard of now based on the continent and not here

The UK market on its own is pretty small. Cheaper to operate in the EU and ship to UK with extra costs than vice-versa! #BrexitBenefits

All our motor factors deliver within 20mins of ordering, so I guess they are UK based.

https://www.gsfcarparts.com
https://www.carsparesltd.com
https://www.mpdonline.co.uk

https://www.eurocarparts.com

The problem I have is critical parts from known big brands being a load of crap...probably sourced via China. With sensors being junk straight out of the box (mainly O2, crank/cam and MAF/MAP etc).

And manufacturers/main dealers limiting UK stock.

May need adaptions (auto corrected as spastic ) resetting, or there's a big vacuum leak.

But rule of thumb for me on aftermarket brands:

Intermotor or FAE ....Junk send it back
Lucas (or any other defunct UK /former big brand). Rebranded junk.
Pierberg ...should be ok but counterfeits or reject stock exists
Bosch/Valeo/Siemens/Continental/NTK usually ok.
Delphi, used to be ok, but increasingly iffy these days (suspect its gone the same way as Lucas).

Meat & Doria : Surprisingly legit; usually rebranded stuff

Magneti would likely be original

Intermotor only good for non-critical parts like reverse light switches or washer bottle level sensors, and maybe oil pressure senders (although they can leak oil into the wiring ).

More likely due to euro car parts creating a aggressive competition war that resulted in everyone stocking cheap crap in order to undercut one another. Wiping out all the genuine independents in the process and taking over the bigger ones to asset strip and offload debts into (Andrew Page).

Google reviews of German motor factors like Auto Doc..... they are terrible at finding the right part, delivering it, or accepting returns. Nothing to do with Brexit, they're just rubbish at exporting the correct part.

Dare I say try a main dealer? At least for a price.

Think we use Robins & Day for PSA parts. Only issue is special order parts are non-returnable if the packaging is opened.

Select "all brands" otherwise you don't get any results https://www.robinsandday.co.uk/parts...day-parts-hubs

TPS (VW) still stock parts for my 17 year old Golf, so you never know.

Can't promise it'll be a nice price though.
