Quite funny really! Murdoch lobbied his home government to try and make some cash for his media empire from google and facebook! The net results, the tech giants stick it back to him and block news media on their platforms. Its sad that the ozzie public are the losers here, but as long as Murdoch doesn't win, its a bonus

I can't see how the Ozzy public are losing on this, I'd say they're doing the public a favour...you can't read news in FB...well boohoo. You shouldn't be using FB for news anyway! You can always get news everywhere else, and choose better quality sources that are more relevant relevant and not 'targeted' based on your browsing and search history or whatever is supposedly 'trending'.
News pertinently tabloid news intermixing with social commentary always had a high level of toxicity. The close relationship with FB trackers plugged into news website and targeted news within FB mixed with fake news and misreporting on a platform coupled with barely regulated user commentary and 'influencers' where the hosts cannot be held criminally accountable for just allowing it to happen does the world zero favours.
CWE on scoobynet predated FB and even back then small scale issues here relating to user commentary mixing with 'facts' could turn nasty and had to be actively controlled, yet nowadays is commonplace and repeated across the globe trillions of times over on FB. But how did a poxy car forum get police investigations and legal action taken against them on brawls between users and slanderous accusations, yet the likes of FB can ride roughshod over everything with impunity?
Not saying the MSM are innocent here. Just the two combined on the same social platform is the worst of both evils.

Facebook do not present or pubkiah the news. Facebook simply allow others to share news sites stories. It is the linking Facebook will not allow. So now users, public and media publications, can no longer post news links.
Say what you will, but this is bad for the media in Australia.

Facebook has now done a deal with Murdoch for Australian media, making his fake news empire even more rich and powerful at the expense of small independent news outlets!

Such market dominance from a single media company cannot be a good think. Regulators really need to step in to ensure more independence in the media and preventing one company dominating the media landscape!
