Anyone here broken a vertebrae before?
Just back from casualty yesterday where I found I had cracked my T9 vertebrae 3 days before, in a surf accident. I'd held off visiting as I have had a number of chest injuries before , like broken ribs ( last one 3 months ago) and sternum ( the worst) and know that it's generally down to getting comfortable and waiting it out.
Has anyone here got any tips or personal experience; I not sure if codeine is a blessing or something evil, it's left me with a massive headache.
Cheers.

Wow , just from surfing ?!
Iv got 1/2" round depression still on the bone that joins the ribs together at the bottom , from boom/harness/mast ..??(windsurfing) when i thought id got in front breaking wave and hadnt ...
made it to AE in plenty pain but gave up after couple hours waiting - on account they probably couldnt do anything anyway
vertebrae sounds lot more serious

I used to windsurf, and have seen some nasty injuries caused by rigs.
I was bodyboarding in quality overhead waves, misjudged a move off the wave lip, and was driven headfirst into the seabed. It was a superb day, and I'd been in longer than I should have been. I'm very fortunate that it wasn't alot worse.
Most non surfers think a bodyboard is a kids toy, but a large percentage of the more radical steep wave spots in the world have been discovered by bodyboarders. We tend to look for waves that get hollow and suck off a reef or bar, where only full time surfers would be comfortable. I'm paying for that right now!

Love body boarding! Unlucky, sorry to hear. Although T9 is not lower down, specifically around the bowel region you may want to consider laxatives. Codeine can really make you constipated, All the straining to drop a pebble can cause further pain and add pressure to already tender areas.
Be thankful they didn’t suspect pelvis damage. Was a time one of the checks they would do is keep touching your d*ck as blood pooling in the area causes erections. Weirdly if they keep touching it the very think they check for they could create 😂. Hope things improve soon enough.
