Default The robots are coming

It seems the Saudis have granted citizenship to Sophia, an android built by Hanson Robotics. Sophia took the stage at an investment initiative in the Saudi capital, Ryadh, to accept the distinction, unchaperoned and with her head uncovered. It looks as though android Sophia has already gained more freedoms than the country’s real women.

Wow, you're only about 3 weeks behind the rest of the world.

I'll just park this here...

Be careful what you wish for.

As Dr Malcolm once observed:
"Well yeah, 'Ooh, aah' - that's how it always starts. But later there's running...and screaming."

We’re not quite at this point yet but this seems completely plausible with today’s technology and the implications are quite chilling when it comes to autonomous robots:

This makes Terminator look tame by comparison. Unfortunately so much cash and time has been invested in AI it's probably too late to prevent the eventual development of autonomous military killbots.

Been watching that show for a few weeks now, where the robots are brought on to sing and dance, and the judges judge how good they were. Think its called x-factor?

They look right, and sound almost right, but still needs a bit of development to reach the level of real, talented, human musicians.

Yep, it's the thin end of the wedge......should humanity decide to take 'the wrong fork in the road.'

Presumably, they'd be able to give the ultimate in furious handjobs.

She's British. Albeit born of parents of Hong Kong (father) and Chinese (mother) descent.

But we get you're coming from.

Jack Whitehall... Lucky *******!

Can't see how he got his hands on her - bit of a mismatch I'd have thought!

Fame, celebrity and money gets you everywhere.

Girls are suckers for the pursuit of lifelong 'head insurance'. Just look at Meghan Markle.

She's stooped really low though. Having to get knobbed by a Ginger Bollox every other day.

The pursuit of 'living the life of luxury' trumps EVERYTHING, as far as females are concerned.
