I'm sure La La Land is very good, but I just can't get excited about it; will keep an open mind. Denial looks to be more my cup of tea.

I have to stress how good Silence is. Beautifully shot, uncomfortable and as deep as the art form allows. It's Scorsese doing as he pleases and is so, so tender and exacting and uncompromising. Watch it on your own with a glass of something and soak-up the atmosphere and anguish and glory of faith and the human condition. Arguably the most thought provoking film I've seen.

yes, my expectations were very low tbh

it was for my half sister in laws 18th birthday celebrations and the cinema was a really great one on the Mile End Road

it just made a change from all the super hero cr4p and the ending was great too

whilst on thought provoking films - one that I though was beautiful, and a wonderful uplifting examination of the human condition was

"The Lives of Others"

if you haven't seen it - really make the effort

LaLa Land
Arrivals
Noctural Animals

All destined for greatness but I warn you now all three are utter guff!
United Kingdom - a very good film.

Heard nothing but good things about Arrival and it's on my list of films to watch. Will come back to you when I've seen it.

Thought Arrival was really good. Explores some interesting concepts about the nature of time and shines a light on the human reaction to the unfamiliar.

Watched it this evening and enjoyed it, but with a few caveats. Look forward to discussing them with you. No spoilers, but as you'd imagine, Spall is excellent.
