I have a battery powered dremel and I think it is fantastic
I have no experience of other dremel type tools though
it has got me out of holes that nothing else would (apart from another dremel type tool)

They're fine for that. Any small job; cutting metal, plastic, wood etc. Grinding, sanding, drilling etc. As long as you have the right accessory for the job. I use it a lot for jobs on the car; modifying pieces to fit (lots of cutting when fitting my stereo) and odd jobs around the house. I wouldn't advise it for big jobs (like porting headers!) and it has a couple of annoying design flaws but you really can't go wrong with one at less than £30 for small work.

I've got one and wouldn't do without it for small precision jobs. The one design flaw (and it's probably just me) is that it needs to spin both ways or you can get a faceful of stuff when cutting and grinding. Otherwise great.

ive got a dremel for getting in to small wee corners that i cant reach with die grinder, finger belt sanders etc.
my advise would be to buy at argos, b&q, homebase etc. ive returned about 8 under warranty. saves buying consumables a bit too.
