I don't have an issue with snakes but those racer snakes chasing the newly hatched iguana were stuff of nightmares what a welcome into the world!

Fantastic! Glad they showed the end bit about how hard it was for the camera crew to get on the island.

lol, I used to feel the same, but you get used to them after a while, fantastic mouse catchers as well because they can get in all the places cats can't and sniff them out in walls, it's still a bit un nerving when you walk down the stairs and a 2m one darts out in front of you though.

Awesome photography. Best nature filming I have ever seen.

I have a fear - dread is more accurate - of snakes and half a dozen Racing snakes chasing the Iguanas was something else. Google says they are not venomous and squeeze the breath out of their victims, but what do they do then? I thought Boas and similar just swallowed their prey whole and the Racing snakes would be hard pressed to swallow a mouse never mind a chunky Iguana. Any snake gurus able to explain please.

Shakes jaws dislocate to allow them to swallow prey of much greater girth than themselves.

I've yet to see the snakes in question, so haven't got a handle on how small or not they are, when compared to said prey items.

Yeah I've see plenty of pictures of Boas who have swallowed quite large things and you can see a huge swelling in stomach as animal is slowly digested. But you saw the relative sizes of the Racers and the Iguana and one had about 6 snakes wrapped around it. I just don't think it's conceivable that they could swallow one. But happy to be corrected. Yep and was surprised when they said it has the strongest bite of all the big cats, wouldn't have thought that could crunch harder than a Siberian Tiger! But that Caiman certainly knew about it

Default Homing Instinct

Just finished the first episode. What has always amazed me is the incredible homing instinct some birds have. The Albatross coming back to the same rock where his faithful partner has been waiting. And incredibly that Penguin risking death to return with a stomach full of food for his two kids. And actually finding them amongst - was it 50 million - others by recognising mum's call. Staggering. Imagine taking your kid to a full Wembley Stadium where kid gets lost amidst 100,000 screaming fans but finding where he is by hearing his pleas for his dad.

Onto the Jaguars now - handsome things, proper moggies

So true. There were some walking wounded.Yet they seemed to just get on with it

As dpb said, amazing how they caught that (literally) killer wave. They simply could be obliterated on those rocks.

But as Attenborugh said,to them, it was living in paradise...

Yeah, it was sad, but I thought the poor wee bollox's with the broken legs still trying to get back to their mates more sad.
