Question Sir Philip Green

So MPs were discussing whether Sir Philip Green should be stripped of his title. Probably not really for MPs to decide as he hasn’t broken any laws. Being a c,unt can still be OK legally.

So why do the media keep calling him Sir Philip? Just drop the Sir Philip bit and just refer to him as Green or even add a tag such as “Robber Green” or “Green the Pension Killer”

I think he would get the message? David

I know it's not exactly the same circumstances, but didn't MP vince cable get a knighthood after he sold off the post office too cheap at the expense of the British tax payer and lumping us with a massive pension deficit?
Too many crooks spoil the broth springs to mind.

I think the media keeps calling him 'sir' because:

1. He still is a sir until he's formally de-sirred; despite him not deserving the title.

2. Referring a twohat as a sir flags up the irony.

He should be stripped of the title, but I reckon his victims also want to turn him into blue from green with their beating. If it does happen for real before he gets de-sirred, he probably will be reffered by the media as Sir Blue. At least he'll be stripped off his green-ness by the media.

If you strip him of the title doesn't that imply that he is personally responsible for the pension deficit? (Maybe this has already been decided but it's escaped my notice)
If he is deemed to be responsible for the pension catastrophe then surely it follows that he can be prosecuted for the sum necessary to rescue said pension fund ~ £350 million I believe.
I think he should be made an example of what happens to ruthless corporate execs. Strip him of his title and wealth.

He sold the business for £1, a bit of a clue that things weren't quite above board.

You have answered your own question otherwise there wouldn't be any MP's in the first place.

He should never have been knighted in the first place.

THAT is the problem with system.

Also we need to make sure that any monies put aside for pensions is cast iron ring fenced & is under the control of the staff not the owners.

He did that becasue the business was insolvent, and the pension in deficit.

Quite common, and above board.

I think that's pushing it. He did a Maxwell on the pension fund and I wouldn't call that "above board". Green should go the same way as Maxwell and disappear over board

So the £1 sale and his systematic plundering of BHS prior to its sale was actually ok? So he is not such a bad chap as everyone seems to think after all!

That's not what I said.

But its not just as symple as "systematic plundering" of BHS. You need to ignore the hyperbole and rhetoric of the medie and politicians trying to score points or make a name for themselves.

If you take the FTSE 100 companies, between them they have appx a £50bn deficit, almost twice the year before.

The BHS pension deficit has arisen due to many factors. It is highly likely that The Pensions Regulator will find NO grounds to compell Green to contribute to the deficit. he did not "rob" the pension fund.

In fact the BHS pension fund has been struggling soince 2005, seeing real issues in 2009.

Philip Green is, IMP, a complete w4nker, but for other reasons.

BHS was far from the first and certainly won't be the last high street retailer to fail.

Isn't it more acceptable now for rich to benefit nowadays from this sort of effort

I don't think he's going to do a Maxwell ..

My bro in law was crewing on yachts out of Monaco late nineties - he said it would have been easy to kidnap Greens kids as they meekly passed one he was working on every morning
