Default Best car cleaning and polishing products ?

I'm after a couple of car cleaning bits and bobs so if you could recommend the following.

1. A good soapy cleaning product to use with a bucket and sponge for general washing of the car.
2. A good polishing product that will look after the paint and remove fine marks.
3. A good product for bringing the engine bay up gleaming.

If you can think of anything else then feel free to post some suggestions

I would recommend visiting the polished bliss website, but unfortunately I cant.

...once you visit you will be left poor for ever more with so many tempting products. They have a fantastic range of products and good prices (on the whole). To be honest I would give them a ring, you will get far better, immediate advice than through here as they can ask you specific questions, e.g. type of car to ascertain the paint hardness and appropriate products for you.

The most important rule is not to get a sponge, get a wash mitt. Lambswool are good but fall apart to readily. I use this for performance and longevity.

Also use two buckets not one...unless you pressure wash first and even then its good practice to use 2 buckets.

1. A good soapy cleaning product to use with a bucket and sponge for general washing of the car.

Meguairs gold class shampoo - will help prolong the life of the wax coat after you have applied it.

2. A good polishing product that will look after the paint and remove fine marks.

The reigeme is clean / prep, polish, glaze, wax

Too many variables, hand polishing or machine polishing? if you are doing it by hand you want something that will fill the scratches and swirls, if you are machine polishing, you are removing a thin (microns) layer of clear coat to remove or flatten, scratches. Glazing does the shiney bit, provided you have got the prep and polish right, then wax goes on top of this, to protect the finish from the elements and bird sh*t.

Having gone through a lot of all of these products down the years, I have a preference for meguairs polish and sealant, and colinite wax for durability. All applied by machine. Wheels get waxed with simoniz hard wax - cheap as chips so it can be re-coated often and really durable.

3. A good product for bringing the engine bay up gleaming.

Auto-smart G101 to clean it, personally I dont like shiney oily engine bays, used something called CD2 which made it look good on day one, but all the dust and gunk of the day stuck to it, so needed cleaned off with G101, so I stick with that now, oh and re-grease the bits than need grease afterwards, G101 will disolve it - it is a degreaser afterall!

I've made a start with those

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nilfisk-X-T...ywords=nilfisk

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lance-Nilfi...now+Foam+Lance

I'll get myself a Mitt if i can find a decent one, most of the reviews for the lambs wool ones seem to say they lose the wool fairly quickly and leave bit's of wool on the car.

I used the Autobrite foam lance today for the first time with the Nilfisk pressure washer, it's the first time iv'e used a foam lance.

Let's just say it was like a snow storm lol, i can't believe how much foam these things produce. The foam was still on parts of the drive and the side road over 3 hours later and it was really thick.
