Default Trip to Wales - best roads please

Hi

I'm driving to Harlech in Gwynedd on Monday and was after some advice on good routes. I'll be driving from Midlands and would usually head for the A5 but would consider any other or veering off to pick up some great driving roads.
I'm taking my M4 (sorry!) and hoping to find some rhythm with it.

Thanks in advance.

Nick

Wales has some great driving roads - I have covered these some years ago

Probably a bit far south for your tip

A4069 The Black Mountain Road - google this one it is well known.

A4120 from Rhyader to Aberystwyth - there is an account of it here http://www.sabre-roads.org.uk/wiki/i...hp?title=A4120

A bit neared Gwynedd

From Trawsfynydd take the A470 turn onto A4212 towards Bala and floor it, swing left onto B4391 and take this road to Ffestiniog. The A470 joins both ends of the route - so you can run it in both directions as often as you like!!!

There are a couple of cattle grids to watch out for on the B4391 and it narrows down in places - it is about a 20 mile circuit of great driving roads.

There are loads of others, these are just a few that I have covered - watch out for rogue sheep and tractors and have fun!

Thanks al, I'll check these out and work a route through. I found a cracking road years ago which ended in Bala. Was running in my Sti6 Type R ltd having had a new engine. No boost and restricted to 70mph but always wanted to go back and do it again. Will see how the M4 behaves on a long blast with all these great roads.

On the plus side, if they catch you speeding in a remote area you might avoid getting points on your licence: they'll just sh@g you and let you go!

The six fingered banjo playing Gog's will give you more than a "good sheeping", have you seen Deliverance?

Gogs are special (needs?), it's all that northern air. I'm guessing some SNetters will now be heading that way for a bit of law breaking! Bleat, sheepy, bleat!
