Anybody suggest any good roads for a blast in Essex? Preferably round Brentwood light traffic, no cameras.
I've found a few around Ingatestone, but they're not very long.

A414. Only single carriageway, so you have to be lucky not to get caught behind anything, but if you catch it on the right day, it's one of the best that i know of.
Also the road between Wickford and Billericay is pretty good, don't remember it's number, but these days you'd have to do it at 4am on a sunday morning to avoid traffic.
And then of course there's the Southend Golden mile...!

Have you tried the roads around Hanningfield reservoir? There are some really good long straights followed by a load of twisties.
Used to drive that way when I lived at home to work - Wickford to Witham. (Pre-A130 bypass days.)

Go along the A127 to the Basildon turnoff (straight after the closed off roundabout if you are coming from Upminster towards Southend).
Take that, it curves round to the left to a roundabout. Take the Billericay turnoff. Take that road all the way along (it is about 10-15 mins)until you pass the Great Burstead turnoff (on your right) and you come to a turnoff for a pub almost 200m after that (on your left). Take that turning (you'll see a big pub on your left) and you find yourself coming to a Y junction. Take either turning and you'll find yourself in a LOAD of tree lined, twisty, heavenly roads that are CRACKING good fun. And no cameras. I go there some evenings. Any problems finding it, email me.
