Yes, and fiction can be very powerful. Look at the fictional Star Wars movie. That's rocking some boats currently, isn't it? And the other one (Bond one) did the same, didn't it?

In your made up version of reality maybe.

I still have no idea what Jebus has to do with December the 25th.

But an increasing number don't. Most people used to believe the bible was the literal word of God, now most accept it as allegory. See a similarity?

But whatever, when I saw the title of your thread, I expected to see a celebrity death match!

Anyway, what I was saying was that fiction can be quite effective. Therefore fictional characters can be quite effective and comparable.

I've seen the video, now. Not the one that Rescue Dude posted but James the op's one. Good poetry and well recited. The poet (or the poetry reciter) has preferred unconditional love by Jesus over the bribing and manipulative Santa. I understand what he's saying, I think. James can give his take on it, if he may.

The "immaculate conception" is the very first episode of Jeremy Kyle, it's got lies and cheating written all over it. How anyone turned it into a book that billions follow and worship is beyond me. Let's take a moment and imagine if it happened now....

As the world becomes smaller due to the interweb, travel and migration the role of religion is diminishing.

People realise that not everything written in books or spouted by blokes (who force women to do as they say) is actually real. They can **** whoever or whatever they like and not live in fear of a flame zapping them. They can have free thought without their ***** dropping off. Women are actually as important as men.

And the simple fact that it is all b%llocks.

yes "The Green Man", was quite an important figure in pagan / early Christian mythology it seems to have morphed into Father Xmas

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Man

I seem to remember it being the subject of my wifes thesis

although I think Coke did have a hand in rebranding it in the early 20th century

Coke seem to think they had a hand in re-branding

I am not suggesting Coke invented Santa

I'm agreeing, although I think the relationship between the Green Man and Father Christmas is tenuous. Normally rebirth/pagan archetypes are associated with Easter when it comes to Christian/pre-Christian crossover celebrations. I think the Green Man probably has as much to do with Robin Hood as he does St. Nick. Apart from the beard.

Have never met a woman that does as I say, prey tell me of this land of which you speak.

In my house the women are more important, I am grateful that I come a happy fourth, behind the wife, daughter and dog, but glad that I at least tie with the hamster
