I generally take the view that racing drivers accept the mitigated risk of injury and death as a part of the job. It doesn't mean that I'm without sympathy when one of them is hurt or worse, but as Johnny Herbert (I think) said of his leg-breaking accident, "If you travel around the world feet first at 200mph then you can't be surprised when things get broken".
However to suffer this kind of mortal injury as a result of somebody else's accident/incident, as did Felipe Massa on a slightly lesser scale, is particularly poignant and cruel.
RIP JW.

Well, I don't usually post on here, but tonight I find myself making an exeption. Justin Wilson was my cousin, I have in fact just come home from having a family meal with a few of my other cousins, and we found our selves reminiscing over Justin.
The last couple of days has really blown me away with the amount of people offering kind words from all walks of life even people I had never met or heard of. One guy in particular that springs to mind remembers having a driving day at Bedford autodrome, where Justin was doing some tuition in between racing, and tells how Justin calmley asked if he wanted to learn how to drive faster and then told him to 'be quite and do everything that I tell you' needles to say it transormed the guys track driving abillity.
And then there was Tiff Needel who said 'from the very first time I met Justin I knew he had an incredible ability, that's why I invested in him straight away'
And Jenson Button who remembers racing in karts with Justin as a kid back in 1989/90. I vaguely remember those damp weekends when we were at Wombwell kart circuit.
These last few days have been rather strange, half of me not believing that he's actually gone. But when I sit here at my pc and read the comments of the people from across cyber space, I have a mixture of smiles and tears.
So I just want to say thank you on behalf of the Wilson family.
