Omega Watches
I am hoping someone can help me....
A guy I know is selling some wathces. He has some Omega but I need to know if they are fake before I even consider getting into discussions with him. What are the telltale signs of a fake Omega?
The one I am most interested in is the one on top left with brown strap....any advice is very welcome...anyone know the model?
Cheers

Lovely watches; hope they are real.
Wife's grandad has an old JLC I need to check out; I think I might be able to have it.
I love the Planet Ocean by Omega; stunning watch.

I'd have said the Omega vintage watch database is probably a reasonable start, although they can be copied (obviously). Other than that, Google is your friend.

Not much help, I have my grandfathers constellation . Stunning. Think the usual things are the marking on the crown etc
Google will throw some helpful stuff up as will omega themselves ( they all have serial numbers)

It's really difficult to tell from pictures unless you have a clear picture straight on of each watch. Most of those are vintage and a lot of vintage watches have been butchered or fixed with parts taken from other vintage watches which aren't true or from the same model as the original. You need to visit watchuseek forums and post a thread on there.
My Grandad gave me his Omega Geneve a few years back and I had it professional restored because it wasn't working properly and it needed new glass and crown. The model of the watch is 166.070, (which can be found if you take the back of the case off along with the serial number and movement) and dates to 1969-1970.
A lot of those in your picture look a bit newer as you can tell by the different style of lugs that hold the strap. The one bottom right next one along to the left looks like mine from the same era with the same lugs? You need to get the backs off them ideally though. The Geneve is only a basic model and isn't worth mega bucks. Mine as an example in its currently condition is worth about £300-350 but I won't be selling anyway. It's gold plated but depending on all sorts of models, the basic Geneves can be solid gold or silver.
