Default Unusual privacy situation advice..

I live in a stone semi detached house up a dead end lane.

The other house has let out as a holiday let since christmas...

Now....

Our house is pretty and well cared for, next door isnt....its pretty scruffy and grubby and doesnt offer a lot of appeal..The bins dont get emptied, and the holiday tenants leave ****e eveywhere because the bins are always oveflowing..Or all the rubbish gets pushed into our bins and recycling..

Anyway... people have stopped for short breaks and most mention that they thought it was our house that they where stopping at..

So....I had a search on the net and found the house on all the relative rental sites...
The pictures show 80% our house,20% there house...My driveway is also shown as an entrance and views from a farm house up the lane...

I cant get in touch with the owners as they have moved upto Scotland, but i dont want pics of my house on the net or advertised as a holiday rental...

Any advice ?

Can't you contact whoever it is who lets the property out and discuss your concerns with them?

Well the obvious answer would be to contact the letting agents and play it from there.

Well you can contact the sites stating that the photo's incorrectly show your property and request they are removed.

Or could you not contact the owners using the 'ask the owner a question' type of button you get on places like holiday lettings etc?

From what i can see its Sykes holidays that market it.... But seems to throw it out through a lot of companies and sites to grab max attention...

I did contact Sykes, and they said that the owners take the pictures and email them to Sykes for use.
They said they will contact the owners...

That was 3 weeks ago.....No change in pics or listings,or no emails..

I think I'd contact the agents again and say that this is your house in the pics and you would like them removed. Just tell them its your house in the picture and it isn't the one being rented out.

I've done similar on Yell and agency website when a neighbour who was adverting his services (photography) and kept listing my address (similar house name) and I was getting fed up with receiving his mail/inquiries. On each occasion I've successfully had the listing removed ( did talk to the neighbour before doing this but he carried on regardless, so my hand was forced).

Think google has taken away all our privacy with street search.Found it quite disconcerting seeing mine!

You'd think the agents would crack on putting it right or they will have people complaining about misrepresentation....

Yea...

The rep at Sykes mentioned that all properties are freely viewed on the net via google.

But...

I live up a lane that hasnt been "google mapped" and it probably never will be,and i like it that way..

Surely its my right not to have my house on the net if i choose to ?

Might be worth making them aware of the fact it's false advertising then, see what they have to say then. Failing that bombard them with reviews stating the house in the images Isn't the actual rental property.
