Ever Wondered Why Ambulances Take So Long????
I was in Sheffield and heard a siren, I moved over and let it past. It then stopped at the lights (past the white line) to let somebody cross the road that had already stopped in a safe place
emergency = ASAP= blues and twos = don't stop at lights when it's safe to continue just to let somebody that had already stopped cross the road

I don't see much of a problem. Ambulance drivers aren't immune from being prosecuted for jumping red lights and careless or wreckless driving.
He's stopped at the lights to make sure it's ok to cross the junction, seen the old duffer and as he's not sure what the old Dude is going to do, rather than leave him stranded in the middle of the road has let him cross.
The majority of drivers/pedestrians have absolutely no idea what to do when they see an ambulance. I've driven one for years and even with no lights or sirens on I've had drivers do some bizarre things.

Red lights are to be treated as a give way by emergency drivers. We don't have priority to go through them and should only go through them at very slow speed

cheers for the reply Baz
I know what people mean about claim culture and other thing's. It just seemed strange that he was in an emergency response vehicle and stopped to let someone cross the road
could the old bloke put a claim in for hearing damage due to the loud siren
