Default Glass splashback

Anyone on here got any recommendations for who to purchase a bespoke glass kitchen splashback from.

3.2m x 0.8m x 6mm toughened glass with 5 socket holes.

A few online, but hard to get reviews or recommendations.

Any SNetters do this as their job? Just need it supplying as I can fit. Obviously need to measure uber accurately, but the size is a rough guide.

Why not contact a few local kitchen fitters and ask them, or ask in Howdens. I'm sure they wouldn't mind. That's what I did when I had granite fitted in my kitchen. One fitter told me the company I was going to use were about to go through, which they duly did. No harm in asking.

Asked Howdens and they were not forthcoming. Have asked a few fitters, but the places they recommend want to do it in three sections, I want one 3.2m piece.

Could be worth trying a glaziers for a one off piece. If they don't do it they might have an alternative to contact. I'm waiting for the paperwork from the missus so I can tell you where ours was from.

Why is it called a 'splashback'?

It's a panel behind a sink or cooker that protects the wall from splashes.

You could just get some old windows and put them on the wall then? That'l be a splashback?

I would pay for fitting as well, at least then if they break it it's their responsibility. Why spend so much though for something that may not be to everyone's taste if your selling up and moving?

I am doing the open plan thing to give the house a feature so hopefully it sells as right now houses round here are still hard to sell (the trouble with living in the grimy downtrodden north ). The kitchen was very tired and all the decoration needed updating so I put a budget together and took the plunge as open place is the current fad.Yes I could tile it for half the cost, but I hate tiles in kitchens (apart from anything they are a health hazard) and it would detract from the minimalist look.

If you used Perspex, it wouldn't be a glass splashback.

Have you seen perspex when it is about 6 months old? Not going to work, it needs to be glass.

Ask at local glaziers. They will quote you for the piece and to have it hardened.

You'd need it delivered too.

I measured up and bought a piece for behind my hob twenty-five years ago, cost me over £20 then.

It's a bit too big at 3.2, you'd be better having it split in half. I'm in the glass trade, we make made to measure splashbacks.

Your a braver man than I, you'll struggle to get that off the ground and with 5 plug holes and those dimensions your asking for trouble.

2 x 1m and a centre piece of 1.20m would be my choice or 2x110 and 1 x 1m

A mere bagatelle compared to some of the jobs I have done

We will see what some other suppliers say. If it has to be in three bits then so be it... bloody shame though.

Would weigh kgs in one piece.

And when you put it up, if the wall ain't completely flat, you risk putting a twist in it, and it shattering.

I built and plastered the wall.... of course it's flat. How very dare you Fair point I guess, but you don't smack it against the wall. You bed it on tube adhesive.

i used to work for a glass processor and tougheners. iirc they used to charge 25 quid a cut out plus toughening and painting. they would do it in those dimensions as ive seen them done but it wouldnt be cheap. my old boss had a kitchen splash back in black rainbow sparkle (looks really nice) was around 3m or thereabouts with 3 sockets i seem to recall and was around 400 quid even with him being a manager and having discount. looks the mutts tho.
