PPI Claims
Thinking of doing this as I've heard quite a few people have had good payouts
Does anyone have any experiences of this or know a good website to use

do it yourself, most banks/loan companies have a team dedicated to ppi claims
ask for a form and fill it in to the best of your knowledge,it doesnt matter if you dont know amounts/account numbers etc
in the section regarding the ppi all you have to write is "i wasnt aware of ppi"
ive just had all mine come through some dating back to 1999 from banks/credit cards etc
nice £3000 for me just after xmas
hsbc were my hardest to claim from as it was midlands bank when i took the loan out and my signature has changed somewhat from 1999 but got there in the end
do it

Stanton Fisher. My friend has had circa 10 claims go in. 2 got rejected. £8k and counting with 2 Egg claims to go! Yeah you pay a hefty fee but they do all of the legwork. It's utterly ridiculous. At his peak (early Twenties age-wise) he had around £15k on cards/loans and effectively flipped between 0% interest on balance transfers hence the sheer volume of claims. He'll essentially get 60% of his original debt back as capital in his pocket (interest already paid on original debts aside). It's utterly balmy. All because of duff policies that were something like 72p in every £100 spent. It just shows how bent/fabricated the whole thing was if one card can pay you £3800 when you didn't spend that on it.
Stanton take 33%. If you value your spare time highly enough it's a price worth paying.
If, however, you still owe a financial institution you are claiming from the money goes to them to clear your debt not you and don't be surprised if any shortfalls get called in immediately either.

How do you "do it yourself" - is there a guide somewhere
Otherwise, if i contact the banks and say "I think you have mis-sold me PPI" they will reply "no we haven't" - then i'm stuck
As far as i am aware, you don't have to have accepted any PPI, just if they have tried at some point to add it into your account even without your knowledge

I have just come to the end of my PPI claims with great results! I used a local company to me (in Hampshire) called Beacon in Eastleigh, they did all the leg work and only took 20% of the money they claimed. It is on a no win no fee basis. I applied online with them and then registered with credit expert/experian for a few months where i got all the info i needed on old loans/credit cards etc and just sent the info to Beacon. It really was that simple and i got over £2000 back in total after paying them! I didn't mind giving 20% as they were effectively working for me for about 1 1/2 years!

It's very hard to get the banks( especially HSBC) to admit any liability.
If you haven't got old paperwork proof then it could be a long road.
Iv had 2 ppi loans from HSBC in the late 90's and early 00's, always been self employed.
Gladstone and brooks are doing mine and are having real trouble, they keep rejecting the claims.

Sorry guys, people using the PPI companies are idiots.
Hundreds of letters online, just send them to a company you've had dealings with in the past and the company will give you your details and tell you if you have a claim.
That's all they do .. anyone who wants to give me 20% for that info ?
I got 2k back from tesco ..

i downloaded a form to fill in
didn't need old account details or anything, just roughly how much i borrowed, from who and when, all were from memory
had one letter and a phone call over about 3 weeks then got some cheques!!
was thinking about using a claim company initially, but is so so easy to do yourself

As i said, i was happy to pay the 20% as there was a lot of extra work involved and seeing as my original post wasn't written for your benefit, i don't really know why you need to act like a feckless dullard.

Print this form off, fill in as much as you can and send it to the relevant credit companies.

I trawled my bank statements to find direct debit originator IDs and most of the time loan account numbers etc were in my banks statements too.
Once I had all the info I sent everything away and got about £7000 back in total. Send all communication using recorded delivery, small price to pay for the potential return.
It can be time consuming depending on how many loans/cards you have or had but it's well worth the hassle. I don't think those PPI claim companies should get anything from us for such an easy job.

I chanced my luck and tried to claim for a personal loan I took out in 1999 with TSB. I originally tried to claim about 5 years ago with a PPI company who wanted 40%, when they found out I had no paperwork for the loan the said I had no chance getting anything back due to the fact it was so long ago and there would be no record of it as I had stopped banking with them in 2004.
2 years ago I called the TSB directly on their PPI claims hotline and 6 months later I got a big fat cheque for £5500 They refunded me for the original loan and for PPI I didn't even know I had on a credit card at the time. Definitely avoid the claims companies and do it directly yourself.

If it's automated I try and edit for the option to speak to someone and when it's answered I keep repeating the word '*****' to them until they hang up. Usually, for the first 5-10 seconds they don't actually listen to you as they're too busy reading from a script. Eventually though, they'll either just hang up or say something like "you're sick"!

I've just had a call from Lloyds effectively offering me my ppi back. Apparently I had it on a couple of car loans back in the day. They said they'll let me know their decision in two to three weeks!

Download the forms from moneysavingexpert.com and do it yourself.
Worked for me.. Only had one rejection, think it was HSBC IIRC, took them to the Ombudsman who ruled in my favour so they had to pay me in the end

To be perfectly honest anyone who took PPI out without knowing exactly what it was and how much it costs is beyond me.
I had it (and still do) on every mortgage I've ever had so it would cover the cost for 12 months if I was unable to work due to accident or illness.
The DSS won't pick up the tab for the first 9 months, so no choice really.
Stll managed to claim £2500 a couple of years back for being 'knowingly mi-sold' it though.
