Going to far
Smokers banned from smoking in their cars from October.
I'm all for banning smokers from smoking in their cars if there are children on board but this is going too far IMO..

Not for me...should have happened years ago.
If it's dangerous to talk on a mobile, it's CERTAINLY dangerous to light, smoke and dispose of a cigarette.
Not to mention the dirty b@stards that are smokers will almost certainly chuck some part of their smoking litter out of the car window.
And it should also be illegal to fiddle with SatNavs while driving.

Won't stop anyone.
Illegal to use a mobile whilst driving....every other car I see someone is on the blower.
Fecking country is going mad.
I can drive down the road drinking a can of red bull whilst having a *** with my missis on loudspeaker and still get round the corners using my knees

Quite how it will be Policed is another matter. I wonder how many road accidents can be statistically attributed to distraction through cigarette smoking. Ex-smoker myself. I'd say the abundance of road traffic signs are more distracting in the main, but that's just from my experience. It's not a policy that will affect me. Does the policy include electronic cigarettes?

TBH, if it is to do with distraction, then so many things should be banned e.g. head turning pedestrians (ugly, beautiful and strange looking ones) and other cars (mainly better than yours; yours means anyone, not just you or I) on the road. I've also seen that the coppers are also a big distraction. As soon as a boy racer sees one, his heart starts to race, and he starts swearing involuntarily. massive panic due to such distraction. So, coppers and their cars should also be banned from the road.

I've had two, but they were well-behaved, thankfully.
Dogs can also be banned from driving along with their owner; with their face hanging out of the window and their tongue hanging out to eat the empty air. Dogs are so weird! They can even cause distraction for others on the road, not just for their driver owners.

I think it may do. Oh, and biscuit eating in the car may also get banned; due to the distraction to a biscuit.

smoking in work vehicles was banned years ago, but how many van drivers still smoke?
I agree with it when under 18 are in the car, but what about when the kids are at home all day with the parents puffing away?
it's unenforceable, not enough coppers on the roads to deal with it. the coppers should stick to getting all the people with no tax/mot/license/insurance off the road

1. The link isn't to the right story - correct link here.
2. The right story doesn't say what the OP claims it does (the ban will in reality only be for cars carrying under 18s).
3. Misspelling in the thread title.

Dumb ****.
I completely agree with than ban on smoking when kids are in the car. Although I doesn't effect smoking in their homes with their kids does it?
These people should be had up for child cruelty.
