I got these puppies Kef KHT2005 system, I got mine hooked up to a Denon AVR-2801 amp, a bit more than £500, but well worth the extra
I you havn't already heard these its well worth finding a dealer that can demo a set, you won't believe how well they perform for their size

Yesterday i bought a Denon 1602 A/V amp(£300).Now i need a set of speakers.I'd prefer one of the complete sets,centre,fronts,rears and sub,and prefer a small(ish) size.
Any recommendations up to £500(ish).
I listened to a set of Infinity alpha HCS (£499)in the store which sounded OK,but i'd like to hear a few more.I've also read good reviews about Energy Take 5,but a bit expensive (£599).
btw, only for TV,i already have a separate hi-fi for music.
Thanks
Paul.

I went for Mission FS2 AV. They use NXT technology so are quite small. Didn't want anything too big as my living space isnt huge. Also given odd shapoe of my room the NXT "flood" the sound space rather than have a particulalrly "directional" sound like traditional speaskers do.
They were £800 (what I paid, damn), but I saw Emprire Direct doing them for £369! (not sure if that was inc or exc VAT?).

Got to agree with Mega-stream....
The Kef's are the b0llacks!!! I have a Denon 3801 AV amp and I don't have any other speakers bar them!!
You will be amazed!! They are slightly more than you want to spend though but not by much
Go get em... Superb sound... you wont be disapointed!

Thanks for the replies.
I bought the amp without listening to it,its not always possible and some hi-fi staff are not always that helpful. The speakers,i want to hear before i buy them. Will probably go Fri/Sat.I'll make sure i get to listen to the Kefs before commiting myself.
Thanks.

I have a set of the mission NXT speakers too. They sounds pretty good, but I've just heard my mates Elac surround sound speakers and I wish I had them instead !
The build quality is first class, and although they don't spread the sound like an NXT speaker, they sound superior to mine.
On top of that he only paid £400 for them (Cinema Systems Two). That was a special deal at the Ideal Home Ex, but they shouldn't cost more than £500.

I got a Denon 1802 amp early this year and am running Mordaunt Shorts front left, mid and right, and Boston Accoustics rears.
I heard the lot before i bought them from Richer Sounds and to be honest the Mordaunt Shorts **** all over the Missions and KEFs that I listened to.

No idea how they compare to all the above, but if you want a bargain, Dixons (well, my local one anyway) are selling a Quadral 120 kit of five satellites and a sub (passive) for £75. These got five stars from What Hi-Fi and a comment on "how do they do it for the money" or something like that - and that was at an rrp of £200.
I got a set to go with my Yamaha AX620, and they sound great, and are pretty unobtrusive to look at. I don't use them for stereo hi-fi, though.
