Has anybody been waiting for road tax reimbursement?
I sold my car in late September and applied to put my private plate on retention.
Got log book back with the old registration number then sent it off again to complete the change of ownership.
About a month ago I received a note from DVLA acknowledging me no longer being the registered keeper.
Since then I've been waiting for 6 months worth of tax reimbursement which should net around £245.
Anybody know how long the new 'automated' process takes? I've rang DLVA twice but just get "it will work it's way through the system".
It would be nice to get this money back prior to Xmas

This is now starting to bug me, given some of the quicker turn arounds in the above posts.
Acknowledgement slip (date 'printed' 20 Oct) stating i'm no longer the owner of previous vehicle was received shortly after the printed date. That itself was over 3 weeks ago..
I'll call them again tomorrow.
I can imagine the consequences of the boot being on the other foot... Grrr

As I got fed up of waiting I contacted them using the email system and they replied today confirming my car was now taken off as being registered as mine and my tax refund will be with me in about a week.
Service seemed very good and I only had to put the reg and my details along with some words

Paul have you got that email address please?
The guy on phone today said I needed to write a letter despite the automated system but I'd rather try your route first.
Thanks

I used:
https://emaildvla.direct.gov.uk/emai...vehicle_4.html and selected
Which takes you to https://emaildvla.direct.gov.uk/emai...icle_4_42.html
Fill in the relevant details and in the text box at the bottom I explained that I had sold my car, to X dealer on X date and had sent the sold to dealer slip to the DVLA but I have not heard yet, and also my refund hasn't arrived.
I had the automated message arrive confirming receipt and the next day an email from them saying they had it, it was being processed and my refund would come out within a week.
Today I got both my notification and my £105.00 back.

Brilliant, thanks Paul.. Good result for you too.
I sent my letter off today but will also use the links you provided and paste the note into there too. Strange that two DVLA telephone operators said I couldn't correspond by email..
Thanks again, I will let you know how it goes.

Ahh, bloody dvla.
Try having your license surrendered under medical grounds, then when your neurologist tells them all medical tests have come back all clear and your safe to drive, takes them another 9 feckin months to give you your license back!
And then once they have given you your license back, they issue you one that is only valid for a year, and has had a lot of the categories removed, and to be issued with a full license with all the categories back on it need to pay doctors fees for a medical, even though they have been told by a neurosurgeon that everything is a ok!
Useless tw@ts!
