Horrendous.

I reckon one or two exits on the A1, such as at Newark, are prime for just such an accident.

The car driver thinks ( fortunately he still thinks) he's invincible

I wouldn't exactly call that impatient as he moved over for the turning well in advance they just didn't expect there to be a queue of standing traffic.

Losing a box of oranges will probably cost a tenner, losing a child will cause months, years, probably even a lifetime of pain. It makes quite a big difference. Why reply to every thread like a pr1ck?

Edit :I bet every person on this forum has made that move a few times before!

This is how many idiots drive in France.

TBF this is why I tailgate when in Bordeaux at rush hour...to stop ****** like this cutting in at the last minute to use a slip road.

Those three-wheeled city bikes/scooters are the worst.

Well I haven't. I can't actually see through articulated lorry trailers.
What about the truck driver? He definitely didn't deserve it!

So you're telling me, you've never been on the motorway, realised you need to turn off then moved into the off-ramp slightly faster than you would normally? Of course not, you'd have just cruised past the turn off, to the next available one and recalculated your route!

I don't think anyone cutting in like that DESERVES to cause that amount of carnage on the road, maybe you'd be quite happy to see that everyday bearing in mind the driving standards on UK roads......

So what if it HAD been a car full of kids ... what about the emotional trauma and damage to the truck driver as he smashed them all into little pieces.
The car driver was a ****.

Yes, that's correct. I haven't. I can read road signs. Can't you? ... but I can't see through lorries, can you?

No need.
The car driver simply made a mistake! Surely even you have made a mistake at some point in your life!? It was just unfortunate that this mistake caused a lot of damage, but fortunate that it wasn't worse.

No, never read a road sign in my life!

If you believe that you're deluded. People know the dangers of driving with mobile phones, I'll say no more.......

The driver of the silver car has done a very dangerous move that could of ended bad for her and any occupants of her vehicle.I am just glad that for all parties involved no one was killed, but i think its one of those accidents that unless you know all the ins and outs for example her experience on the road as a license holder, her mind set etc...it would be a bit harsh to jump to conclusions, and on reflection she should be more then aware of how lucky she is that no one was killed and that she is able to live another day.Its a bad mistake that she made and i doubt that she would ever make that same mistake again, lesson learned i say.SJ.

Seriously?? If they're that close the the truck they've pulled in behind that they can't see down the slip road then they're too close imho. They ended up that close because the they had to leave enough room (even thats questionable) for the truck in lane 2 meaning there wasn't really enough room. So as far as I'm concerned the driver WAS impatient and to exit at that junction they should have been behind the truck filming at a bare minimum.......

No body deserves that to happen but they can't really moan that it has when driving like that! VERY lucky not to end up 6 feet under though!

Tbh she suould of pulled in behind the lorry and allowed herself enough time to see into the next lane to make sure it was clear before pulling into it, she never she jst went straight over into it. It was a shame and im glad she was ok but it was totally her own fault, unfortunately recently i see a lot of female drivers driving like complete ***** and it seems to be getting worse with them too.

OMG moment when the line of stationary traffic appeared. Presumably the car involved was LHD which didn't help the situation. Thought the truck driver with the onboard camera did well to hold his line or the situation could have been worse.

They weren't behind the truck, they moved over and didn't take any notice of the traffic. When you look at how far the traffic stretches after the crash and before the turning it wasn't a rash decision to pull in at the last minute.

Probably stuck behind traffic then pull over as we can't see the before footage.

It's an error of judgement a seasoned driver would not make.

I didn't say they were behind the truck. That's where they should have been in order to see far enough down the slip road. The reason they didn't see is because they were too close to the other truck as they entered the slip road - because they left it till the last minute to filter over. Massive error of judgement!!

If you look at the video and my comment you will see they didn't leave it till the last minute as it still doesn't show the exit after the crash as its too far ahead, and after the crash someone is still entering the exit lane but is doing it with a bit more sense and even after that the exit isn't in sight!
