Question Friends Life - Life Assured Policy

Multiplan
Currently paying £172.54 per month.
Pays out:
Death £1.00
Permanent and Total Disability £125,499
Critical Illness £125,499

I have been paying in since 10th Sept 1999

The surrender value is £66.99 before charges!

Options sent to me

A: increase to £249.21 per month but expect an increase in 5 years
B: reduce life cover to £93,845 but expect an increase in 5 years
C: increase cover to be sustainable. £526.09 per month

They didn't offer the option I want

Cancel.

£1.00 payment on death......... Did you take it out for a reason? to cover a mortgage etc? Does it run for a fixed term?

OMG that sounds like quite a bit of money each month too for that amount of cover.

We have a decreasing life and critical illness policy which only costs 25 a month.

What do they pay out if you shave your head and nut sack in a drunken rage over a food bill?

Crikey - Like PaulC above I've got approx £100k Life & citical illness cover that's £15 a month (With Legal & General). Do you have a health history that makes your cover so expensive ?

I assume you have shopped around for cheaper cover as you current premiums seem very high !

Got a quote for you;

Based on £150,000 over 12 years the best priced policy in the UK would be £22.84 per month with Legal & General

170 odd quid for fourteen years

Wow

Stick on a mortgage against a property in the south east for the last 14 years and the asset price increase would see you half way to becomming a millionaire

That's stupidly expensive.

I'm 31 work offshore in oil and gas industry so fairly high risk.
Pay £72 per month

Pay out critical illness: £400k
Death: £700k

Thanks for the replies. Sadly it looks like I took my eye off the ball here and have blown the cash. Gonna cancel and take a look at some of the alternatives mentioned.

The wife likes my shaved head btw :-)
