If i bought a home cinema package, you would be able to get the World cup in surround sound?.
All i'd need is a set of speakers and a home cinema amp.....is that right

btw.......thinking about a Denon and a set of either Boston acoustics or Energy Encore

If you go for the new range of denon amps 1802, 2802 or 3802 they have a prologic 2 decoder which takes any input and pumps it out thru 5.1 speakers sounded pretty damn good from the demo i listened to.

I hate listening to audio cd's on av stuff as it never quite sounds right as the soundstage is messed up coming out of your left and right speakers for example, but I have to say i was fair impressed with the denon.

also if you go 2802 or above it has support for 6.1 so makes it a little more future proof, also has on screen icn based displays which were nice and easier to use than lots of fiddly buttons on my sony.

Sky Digital have started transmitting some programmes in Dolby Digital 5.1. You can only receive them if you have a Sky+ box

Ok.......i think i'm gonna get the Denon 1602....about £250.It has prologic 2 and 5.1,...as PT says. Its the least powerful of the range, but i have a small room. Now for the speakers,....not sure wether to get a complete satellite set.My other choice is to get 2 front and a centre.I have 2 spare tannoys for the rear.
Have to go and have a listen.

Thanks
Paul.
