Question Untaxed vehicle...

Just seen someone with orange safety jacket walking round car in the street outside my house, taking pictures and he's stuck dirty great notice "UNTAXED VEHICLE"

Clearly looking up somebody on his computer, maybe see if owners live here

First time seen this behavior , didn't look like police / warden

Really? , it's still there - no parking restrictions, no owner turned up

If the car is on a public road it has to be taxed. Even sorn cars can not be on a public highway.

Theres probably a clamp on it as well as a sticker ,, lorry comes round later in day etc and carries the offensive untaxed vehicle away ,, as long as its not a scoob its fine :-)

If its on a road it all sounds normal - if however said chappy in hi vis is poking about a car on a private driveway then something may be untoward ? Fairly sure they cant come on your property and attach stickers etc

Cynical Swissy, very cynical

Did cross my mind

There's a clamp on the offside, and strangely the cars in front and behind are almost up to the bumpers

Ha, it's disappeared, whilst writing on here, and the cars by it

Didn't hear a thing - so presumably no tow truck

No wouldn't come on to the drive, that's why I wasn't worried about it.Just driving by now and then to look, probably checking it wasn't being used on the road.

they lift it vertically so cars being close wouldn't of stopped them - theyre literally gone in 60 seconds round here soon after they've been clamped and stickered - also I think it might be a criminal offence and defo a hefty fine to tamper with dvla type wheel clamp

Once I saw a rough as sandpaper smackhead style guy in Wrexham whose car got clamped behind Lord Street, but he fought with the private clamplers and drove off without paying them. He ruined the road (it made a deep line of the clamp scratch from the point he left to the point he seized) and his car wouldn't go past bleddy 100 yards, so he had to stop and do a runner on his little stick legs. I don't know what happened, but as it was a heap anyway, I presume he just deserted the vehicle. I wonder if he got done for damaging the road, though.
