Huge thank you to a young lad at kwik fit
So i gets a phone call from the mrs to say boot on car wont open, what she doesnt tell me is she just put bags in the car and left the strap of a bag in the lock mechanism so when boot was shut the strap got mangled in the lock and stuck the boot shut somehow, she takes car to kwik fit to be told by manager oh we cant do that itll be a body shop nd itll cost this much etc, she walks off to the car and as she does a yts lad runs after her and asks for a go at opening it, he climbs through the back seats into the boot and after about 20 mins tells wife to open it from outside and hey presto it opens, she gave him a tenner to say thank you so young man at kwik fit you are my hero for today

Kwik-Fit are nothing but a bunch of profiteering scumbags. I needed a set of tyres this Easter bank holiday due to a puncture and out of desperation called a local Kwik-Fit for a quote on a set to be fitted the same day. They quoted £180 each tyre, their website has them for £130. I pointed this out and they said this is due to the Easter break meaning that they were difficult to get hold during this Easter break. I pointed out that they already stated they had them in stock so where was the difficulty? They revised their offer to £150 each, take it or leave it, told them they can go rip someone else off.

Once you've worked with the general public for a good few years, kindness and helpfulness get beaten out of you. More hassle than it's worth plus for every one person like your wife there are 50 people who won't thank you and will look down at you as a useless pleb just doing your public servant job for the schrapnel they call an hourly rate.

Much as I wouldn't go anywhere near the place under normal circumstances they're not all bad.
When I crashed my old BMW E30 3 series it came back from the repairers with the steering wheel still off centre. Insurance company's answer to this was to take it to Kwik Fit and get the tracking done. They helpfully figured out it was on of the back wheels that was out of alignment (bent suspension arm) and no amount of tracking adjustments would help. No charge to me. Went back to the insurers to inform them their repairers were pretty useless and had returned the car to me in a dangerous condition. Finally went into the BMW dealers for a new suspension arm paid for by the insurance.

Having avoided Kwik Fit like the plague for years I recently bought four tyres for my Merc (proper M.O.) from their Oxford outlet. They were cheaper by far than any I could buy elsewhere. The place was clean and tidy, free coffee from a machine, staff very helpful. They checked the tracking, said it was spot on, no charge. Couldn't fault them, and I'll be heading there again when the Impreza needs new tyres.
