Default theduck's Mica Red Bug Eye

So I have decided to keep a log of my ownership experience of my first scooby. The idea is to cover everything that happens to the car, the changes I make, the maintenance, repairs etc etc. Why? Well for some people it might be interesting, and also, as someone who uses forums a lot, I always look to research the history of a car I am buying through forums, and so this will be a great resource to whoever I sell the car to in the (distant!) future.

So first of all, some history on the car, and the best way to do that is link to the previous owners for sale thread and project thread:

Sale thread - https://www.scoobynet.com/subaru-444...ith-remap.html

Project thread - https://www.scoobynet.com/members-ga...g-changes.html

So on to the start of my ownership...

Day 1, breakdown 1 - On the way to show my new toy off to my dad, the car developed a misfire, so limped it home. Plugged in a code reader and said misfire on cylinder 4.

Day 2 - Posted on here and got a few tips, stripped out the washer bottle to give access to the leads to the coil on cylinder 4 and as I went to remove the lead it fell off! Checked it over, looked ok, plugged it back on. Reset fault, fired her up and all good! Took her a for a quick spin to make sure and stopped to take a couple of photos...

All was going swimingly and I was starting to consider my first tweaks and then....

Came off the motorway and on stopping on the island I was greeted by clouds of steam! Pulled over and got her recovered to BTM Performance. Diagnosis was a split top rad hose which has been changed and a full coolant flush. I had intended to flush the coolant anyway as I was not happy with its appearance and as it turned out I was right to be concerned as it was not the right coolant type.

So only got the car back tonight and its well again, and hopefully this is the end of the teething issues. I have a few minor plans for the car, but they are minor tweaks only as I think its a great looking car already.

I will keep this updated as changes are made and work completed, hopefully will prove to be of interest to people.

Aw mate I can't believe it! I promise I never had any faults buddy, honest. I was selling her as 100% honest genuine well looked after car. I was only doing about 4 miles a week granted but she always ran spot on. Anything that she ever needed doing was done and with top notch parts. Really can't believe it! Saying that you've got all the bills and see my previous threads. I even had her wrapped up every week....

Looking forward to this thread Stu. I'll stop calling it her now n all, sorry pal ha

You couldn't have known mate, and both simple fixes. You should add the video you took when I collected her to this thread!

Maybe, going to see how she runs and need to check some bits to as I have conflicting info regarding some things, particularly about whether this will have a cat in the up pipe or not? Things I'm looking at doing are:

Refit original front grill and change lower grill
Refurb alloys either same as they are or shadow chrome
Carbon (maybe wrap) side markers
Carbon wrap roof spoiler
Possibly change wrc grill vents back to standard
Uprated clutch
Decat up pipe if required
3 port boost valve
Sti inter cooler
Map tweak

Think that will be it then. Just think those bits will finish off the superb job razorwrx1 has done so far. Welcome suggestions and comments, especially on the engine side being new to scoobies.

I know mate, still feel it tho. Not sure If I could stand seeing it all the time maybe in a few weeks when it finally settles/sinks in

Your future plans sound good tho. I always wanted those XXR 527 wheels but just couldn't afford em!

WARNING WARNING WARNING.... When you do your first mod. There's no going back. Hooked for life on these cars
