Default my new classic STI...Engine fitted

So about a month ago i brought my 6th impreza after going back to Civics for a year. Brought a STI V3 in black. only had the car 1 day and after some spirited driving the bottom end went .
so after only 18 miles this is how the car now sits

so the engine is now with Tim of Subus having a version 9 STI bottom end fitted with all new ACL bearings etc. Turned out the engine that was in the car was a closed deck block that had already had a full rebuild but at some point somebody didn't do up the crank bolt and the crank just destoyed the bottom end.

Cheers yeah i've been doing some other bits and bobs while its off the road, i had the dent guy come out and get rid of a load of car park dents and i spent the day mopping and polishing everything, also while the alternator and starter motor are out i painted them up along with the inlet manifold which i've had powder coated black, new rear discs and pads

hi Kev yeah whoever had the crank pulley off last didn't do it up tight enough so the crank was floating about would have gone in the end but a couple of good launches speeded up the process

Been a while since i updated this thread and i cleaned the car today so it seemed like a good time do do an update.
painted my wheels orange, not to everybody's taste but it was cheap and if you'd seen the state of them before i did it this is a massive improvement

fitted a VF22 and Apexi power fc and had JGM map her at RCM. only made 300 bhp because a of a plug misfire which meant he could only have the car boosting at 1.2 but Simon says a new set of plugs and leads and a tweak will see at least 320. however the plan is to change the plugs, leads and fit a front mount intercooler and bigger injectors to hopefully see a bit more then that when i take it for the tweak in the new year some time
managed to chop up a turbo heat shield and get that fitted and wrap my down pipe as well

This is really nice. Suited the gold wheels better though!
I would change that back sticker on the boot though. Looks out of place. Would either remove it all together or get a genuine back boot sticker.

Shame about the getting the car on the road for 18 miles then pooping itself!
Least its back up and running and that bottom ends sure good for 400! Get a bigger turbo slapped on her!

cheers mate, yeah i have to say i liked the gold wheels but i just thought i'd try something different. at least they are all clean and flat now so a colour change in the spring will be alot easier next time.
the sticker will be coming off when i have some paint work done. i'm looking at getting rid of the spoiler and having the bonnet, roof and boot resprayed
as for power i'd hope the vf22 will still make closer to 350 next mapping which i'd be happy with although 400 would be nice

I suppose its just a Subaru thing really, gold wheels are affiliated with them now! I think the newage wheels would have looked good in gold on it. Would have also gave you room for bigger brakes

I think it suits the mid-level spoiler. Im in two minds whether to swap mine over to a V5/6 one. Whilst your getting the roof done get a Type RA roof vent! That would look pretty cool. Especially if you did plan on going spoilerless!.

I think 400bhp is the target most people aim for but end up settling around the 350/360 mark when they see the costs involved

picked up a full set of lateral arms, sway bars and drop links all fully super pro poly bushed so i cleaned them up painted them gold and thanks to the good weather this weekend finally got them all fitted. not a great picture and a bit too much copper grease to even see the nice purple bushes lol but you get the idea.
well pleased car feels great, hell of a job though fitting them laying on my back all day
