My Clio 172 Cup Track Car
I thought I'd share a few pics of my Clio track car I've been working on over the last few months..I had intended to buy another Impreza or another EVO but thought I'd try something completely different.
Its still work in progress, the inside will be stripped and painted in the winter along with some other ideas I have. Only the Goodridge brake hoses to fit and its ready for its first shakedown at Castle Combe the 26th of this month.

Very nice mate, when I'm back from Bulgaria next week I'm seriously hunting for a 172/182 track car plenty about for sale, been after 1 for nearly a year but now have saved the funds to be able seriously look, how much did you pay for yours if you don't mind
I'll hopefully see you at French car show at the end of the month will either be on track in the clio I buy or wasting my track time and turn up in the Scoob, didn't realise it was a French car only on track this year so booked a session

Yes there are plenty around for sale but I guess it depends how you define"track car" Ive seen loads where the interior has been stripped and then the seller classes it as a track car.....What I paid for mine and what I've spent on it is a hell of a lot more than I can sell it for.
It goes well Ty with a nice throttle response from the JMS RS2 intake over a stock intake....Handling is pretty sharp to, coilovers, Yoko track tyres and a whiteline rear bar and drop links.

top car that, just got myself a 172 ph2 aswell, completely standard.
is the rs2 worth it over standard?
and what exhaust is that you've got?
thanks
p.s. what tyres you running and at what pressures?

Obviously with N/A its a different ball game to turbo cars when tuning, it costs a fortune for just a few ponies. The RS2 is a good bit of kit but isn't cheap! Coupled with some 197 cams a "genuine" 200bhp is more than possible, the only other way( staying N/A) to get over 200bhp is with ITB's but that's serious money for only a few more bhp over the RS2.
Exhaust is a fully decatted Ktec recessed system....I had the Oreca group A system but the noise was just ridiculous!
The tyres are yoko's AD08's....pressure, 32-35psi when hot.

The best mod on this car is the PMS shifter kit, totally transforms the drive for me.....nice gear section and the perfect height stick far far better than the stock setup...I took a punt on it with the first batch that were sold, glad I did.

The car was faultless, it was literally hammered all day and didn't miss a beat! I lost the brakes just after lunch due to the red stuff pads that were fitted, I knew this would be the case but replacement's were something i would do after this track day seeing as they were almost new.
This was my first time out in an N/A FWD car and wasn't really expecting much due to my previous track Subaru's and Evo but I can quite honestly say this car put as big a smile on my face than they did at a fraction of the price.....Its surprising the cars you can hassle in this little tin can, its like a little Jack Russell, you just can't shake the little ****** off!
Its off the road at present whilst I replace the cambelt and refresh the engine bay with some paint but I'm really looking forward to getting it out again and abusing it...
