Default New forum member, Subaru finally rebuilt

Hi, I'm new to scoobynet, recommended by a couple of friends for expert advice and a great bunch of people.

Thought I would share a few pics of my first ever impreza which even though the bottom end has gone, I love :-)

I replaced the headlights for standard ones, painted the splitter, painted the alloys and trimmed down and relocated the front plate.

All comments and suggestions welcome :-)

(Apologies if picture sizes etc too big, still getting used to everything)

What are your plans now considering the death of the bottom end? Forged rebuild?

I'm still doing a lot of research but I am looking at cosworth pistons, rods etc and uprated bearings in a lot of detail.

I am still very unsure of what option to take though.

I spent what felt like years researching what is best to use and do for a rebuild, there is almost too much info on the subject and not enough at the same time haha.

I rebuilt mine recently mahle pistons, williams rods, acl race bearings, sti crank and all new standard subaru consumable items such as belts pumps etc. My aim wont be above 500hp though.

Yeah I know exactly what you mean. I'm not after much more power than standard tbh. It's fast enough for me after only 2 months of ownership.

I'm just after a bulletproof engine that will last me long enough while I sort out brakes and gearbox before attempting to push for more power.

I just want her back on the road :-(

I can't really go into costs but they are very reasonable. My mate had the same issue with his and they repaired and uprated it for a good price.

I don't know how much it will be yet as I haven't decided on exactly what I want doing.

I think acl bearings, new crank, uprated gaskets, remap and limiter taken off.

Don't just let RGS do the work, ring round and get some quotes.
I'd also give Paul at ZEN a ring as he's only round the corner from RGS.
RGS are not impreza specialists remember, it'll be a better option to have someone build you an engine who works on imprezas all the time.

Whats your budget ??

I don't want to spend more than £2000 tbh. I'm waiting to hear the quote from RGS then I can get another quote.

I don't mind paying extra for extra work. I don't want to waste my money. Just depends on what option I go for, could just drop another standard lump in it. A friend of mine got acl bearings, new crank and gaskets. All fitted for under £2000.

After a little over a year in and out of the garage getting rebuilt its finally home. It has not been easy or cheap but it's so worth it knowing I have a solid base to work on over the coming 12 months
