Default Hi to all + pics of my new bug wrx!

Hi all, im Vece, a very proud and new WRX owner. Owning one of these amazing cars has been a dream of mine since I new what a car was!
You may have seen it around on here as I bought her this weekend from a very good mate of mine who is a member on here.
As it is shes around 300bhp on 0.8bar (will find the dyno pics later)

Anyway sorry im a rubbish photographer, especially when armed with a mobile phone... ive got some plans, but for now im going to keep it as it is and get used to driving this amazing machine!

Also got these to fit sometime this week

Not bad looking. I'll be intrigued to see the figures - if it's got the standard TD04 it's not even running factory boost yet making more power than they come of the box with

I serviced it today which gave me a chance to look around and get to "know" it. Was very clean and tidy underneath but found a crack in what looks like a chassis support or something. can anyone shed any light?

found the dyno pic, as you can see its not 300, 293 instead.. probably a bit optimistic, but it certainly feels there or there abouts

The crack is in a u-frame that has 2 uses, first to help mount the undertray and second to help drag the engine down in the event of a head on crash. I have no undertray and am willing to accept that if I'm driving fast enough for the engine to come through the bulkhead in a crash I've probably got a slim chance or survival so I removed mine - it's quite a bit of weight saved

Peaking at about 1.5 bar with STI injectors is about right. Mine's somewhere in the 270-280 region, 1.4 bar but the WRX injectors are running about 97% max duty cycle

Thanks mate thats really useful info so it doesnt offer any handling benefits whilst attached? I was going to keep the undertray off too actually; to keep an eye on a patch of oil and also because its just a pain with most of the clips broken and bolts rusted..

i'll have to look into the boost... gauge is definitely reading 0,8

I haven't noticed any difference in the handling since removing it

If the gauge is reading 0.8 that's about wastegate pressure so I'd either be suspecting something's wrong and it has more to give (boost solenoid or check for the 'pill' if it has a 2-port solenoid) or the gauge is faulty. The pill is a small brass pill fitted into one of the vacuum hoses coming from the turbo

I tried to clean my solenoid and it made no difference - 2-ports can be had for £20-30 and are an easy swap - sits under the cover attached to the drivers side strut. As for the pill, feel the vacuum hoses coming off the top of the turbo and see if you can find a hard lump - if not you're missing the pill - few quid from the dealer and do a search on here to find out which of the 2 hoses to fit it in. I can't remember which way around it is and I now have a three port

Just done a bit of googling and its all starting to make sense :P ill have a look after work tomorrow and try giving it a clean, but it might be worth upgrading solenoid (if it isnt already just faulty...) getting it mapped will be expensive though... cheers mate, ill post what happens!

Recognise a lot of bug WRX mods there , morettes, orchiari rear spoiler, lip, vanes, colour coding, mirrors, intake.......

Unless it has been mapped the very clever ECU will trundle out 215-220 PS all day long as that is what it would have been told to do when it left the factory in jap land.

Maybe you should be asking a few more questions from the guy you bought it from
