Depends on the TT and size of it mate, I've had 2, I had a HKS type-1 mounted where the ashtray was on my bug, Then a smaller one which was fitted under the dash in my spec-c but I relocated it to the flip down compartment above the drivers right knee before I removed it completely as they are not really that necessary these days

i like the idea of mounting it down by my knee but i think its a bit long for that, and yeah they are more of a gimmick but i like the idea

haha i already have one mate anyway so its going in !

i realise they dont serve a purpose other than warming your engine without the key in, but as i already have one, i want to fit it

How do they `warm the engine` with no key in? They`re supposed to let the turbo `cool down` before knocking the engine off

Btw, some people mount them to the right of the cup holder where the silver trim is. Mine`s down by the ashtray.

i used mine on my old subaru to warm my car at work
just went out of work @ 16:50 set timer up for 7 mins (lock car) then when leaving work at 17:00 on the dot i could jump in and by the time i got off the car park i could drive as enthusiastic as i require
however i since changed my job and car and no longer do this or have a turbo timer

it was on the car when i brought it, i think its only wired in to work as a timer as none of the rpm, speed things work etc, is in just a nice subtle place if you only want the timer i thought

7 mins ticking over from cold followed by enthusiastic driving - fingers crossed no one on Scoobynet was un-Lucky enough to be the next owner of that particular car!

not an ideal thing to do, much better to drive off boost until oil is up to temp

usually takes 5 to 10 mins in my car to get up to 85 which is running temp, but i have an oil temp gauge to check.

the temp gauge on the dash is water temp and doesnt mean a lot really unless its in the red.

I know mate, that`s why I`m saying they`re pointless. I was just pointing out the main use for them (in 1982 )

Using one to warm the car isn`t advisable either. There was a thread on here a little while ago, stressing the point about how much engine damage could be caused by running the engine while stationary on a cold morning. Much better (for the engine), starting up and driving off, being gentle with it until up to temp. Remember, the enginge oil might be warm but the other fluids aren`t (i.e. diff oil). Just a thought Anyway, I`ll wind my neck in now.

btw. I don`t use mine anymore now I`m `in the know`
