Default Some Pics From Rally Fest 2011

Here are some pics from Rally Fest 2011 that was held in Builth Wells, Mid Wales recently. It is run as an event for the public to see and meet the WRC teams and also local rally drivers.

Unfortunately the WRC teams pulled out just before the event but there were still lots of nice historic cars on show plus some Grp N Impreza's as well.

My personal favourties are the V8 engined TR7 and the Fiat/Lada, I don't know why I liked the Fiat/Lada so much but I think it looked really good.

And of course the 205 T16 and the Lancia which I cannot remember the name of are also pretty cool as well, in fact I would quite happily own all of the cars above.

That's the Lancia 037 - the RWD supercharged forerunner to the legendary 4WD Delta S4, which was both supercharged and turbocharged.

That looks like a great event, we go to the Rally GB every year but I think the new generation WRC has been diluted. Long live Group B!

I can never remember the name of the Lancia, did it have a electro-magnetic clutch on the supercharger to disengage when the turbo was up to speed or did they both operate together?

It wasn't bad if the WRC teams would have attended then they planned a WRC vs Clubman event but it obviously never took place.

I know who you are on about; it's Ryan with his 'boyband' haircut isn't it? Or perhaps Jarvis as he always looks dodgy.

No sorry that's the only pic I took of the 'hybrid' scoop - I wouldn't mind seeing if one could be easily made myself.

It wasn't a bad day, but as it only took me just over an hour to get there it was worth going.

But with the WRC teams being absent I would have been cheesed off if I'd have had to have driven a similar distance to what you would had driven.

But it was good to get up close too so many historic rally cars.

Wonder if the 037 will be at Goodwood this year, browsing through youtube and theres some great footage of yester-year and the crowds it used to pull along the roadside. I have defiantly missed the rally hay days

I think the Impreza arrived right towards the end of the glory days of WRC, and I only hope that one day it gets back up to the heady days of the Grp B cars.

I'll have a look but I don't think so, I do remember that there was a good write up giving all the cars history and events competed in.
