Default A morning at Souls of Olney

My dad went into Souls before Christmas and he bumped into Steve (Sales Manager) and he mentioned that he was going to have an open day test drive thing the weekend after Christmas (27th-28th) 10am-3pm. So when my dad got home, he told me and I then told AndyL about it. I said that we would pop down sunday at around 10:40, Andy yeah OK. So this morning we parked up around the back of Souls Service, and Andy turned up shortly after. We walk around to the front of the showroom and see Steve who was very welcoming and friendly (always a good thing) said morning and we chatted a little bit and he said could we please sign this book for insurance purposes, which we duly did and he gave us the key for the STi. He then said I won't give you the key for the STi 330S until you have been out in the stock STi - probably see if we came back in once piece and he also said, please be back before 3pm as I would like to go home. That was it, us three let loose in the STi then the 330S. We where all thinking it would be that he would come along with us and we get to drive a little.

We went into Newport Pagnell from Olney via the twisties in the STi and in the 330S we went into MK to show Andy Mody and Tracy (bubbles - sorry for waking you up) and on the way back I think I gave my dad and Andy L a heart failure - both went rather pale - all in the name of testing

I won't tell you what speeds we got up to, but it was a tad faster than 30mph I can tell you. The 330S had sat nav and key less entry and push button start. On the Sat nav there was a screen that showed your mpg, range, throttle position 0-100. But what would of been nice was a electronic boost gauge.

Our verdict was that, there was not that much difference between the STi and the 330S power wise or torque. The only real difference is that the 330S had the Prodrive exhaust which gave it a nice lite burble and a roar on full chat when I was sitting in the back. My verdict was that I did not think that they where not very powerful to what I was thinking it might be like. Quite tame, but very encouraging non the less. Weather it is because I am young and have more sense of speed that I am more used to it, I don't know, but anyone who has driven with me knows I don't hang around - rather heavy right foot.

After we had driven both cars, Steve wanted to take a picture of use three with the 330S and Andy's Bug and my dad Blobe for the local paper. And I won a bottle of wine for answering a question correctly which was What are the three words that Subaru use as their slogan? I replied with Think. Feel. Drive.

Pictures

those Recaro seats are rather sung and comfy.

Now I have got to go back to driving my Yaris, but it won't thrill me as much. Its not fair.

I would have the AndyL's Prodrive Bug any day over the hatch, but the response from the hatches engine is something else - One minute you are tootling along at 40 and a quick prod of the loud pedal and you are doing 60+

The one buyer that I told you about somehow after driving it, he became totally uninterested from being other enthusiastic when I was driving and I did not scare him, well maybe a little. Then I had another guy interested, but had to pull out due to funds.

When I saw the title I got memories of seeing Souls of Olney buses sitting outside my school in Bedford when I lived down there.... rather disappointed now.
