Default Been cooking...black headlights!!

Hi all, just thought i'd share todays job of making my headlights black.

Firstly,a freshly removed standard early facelift headlight:

Then, remove the 4 metal clips around the lense and after 6 min in the oven(may take more) at 100deg c the glues soft enough to seperate the lense and back:

A bit of masking the centre which you don't want to paint!:

Then after a bit of painting(sorry forgot to take a pic!)i put the two halfs in the oven for 4 mins to get the glue soft, then put them together, fitted the metal clips to push them together, then back in the oven, 5mins later, one finished headlight! :

And a couple of before and after pics:

The picture doesn't really show them that black, think it might be the flash on me camara, but looks better in the flesh!
Also, as these are early facelift lights, they don't have a seperate surround that you can remove and paint that the later ones do,so it's easier on the later ones.

the early facelift lights are 96 to 98, the later is 98 to 00. They both look the same, using the later bonnet, but are different inside the light. The reflector is different.

i used gloss black, when i look at mine i dont see much of a difference coz my lenses are clear with all that lines/markings on them but when i parked it next to my other scooby you could see a big difference.

that make sense??????? lol
