Evo X and New STi
Couple of pics from Japan today. In the flesh I love the STi, the Evo doesn't do it for me.
Picasa Web Albums - Jack - STi Evo X
Will try to get more detailed pics tomorrow and a few of the rally STi

I know this is a Subaru Forum, but come on. You can't say the Evo looks worse than the new STI.
I'll admit the new STI looks far better than the regular Impreza, but the Evo look far better. Looks good in Black.

I seriously think that if it had been the other way round, and Subaru had given us the Evo X and mitsubishi had designed the new STI, we'd all be laughing our @rses off at what Mitsubishi had produced.
I'm starting to warm to the new STI (Looks better in Silver with 5 spoke alloys) but if I had to buy one today? I'd buy the Evo.
Hopefully the hurried redesign (if rumours are true) will make the new Impreza less ugly. Unfortunately, I think the fundamental design is wrong and would need a totally new car.
If they'd given the new STI 330BHP (again if the rumours were true) than that could make up for it, but it looks like a £1800 Prodrive pack will be required to get it to just over 300BHP.
Mitsubishi UK are saying they are going to offer FQ models from launch. So 300, 320, 340, 360 etc are going to blow the STI into the weeds.
I wish it was the other way round, I really do.

I have to admit I prefer the STi from those pics.
I've said it before, the concept Evo X looked superb but the actual car they have released really doesn't do it for me. I prefer the shape of the Evo IX to the X.

STi does look much better than the first 'new Impreza' pics we've seen granted, but still how some of you can say that it looks better than that Evo is beyond me!!

Thanks for the pics Jack! How's the show?
I think both are aesthetically very poor, the EVO looks too Honda Accord for me and the new Impreza is too Ford Focus / Astra / A3 / Hyundai / Mazda 3 for me. Sadly I'm in a position to buy a new one for the first time, and I don't like the look of either. I've had to add a 335i to my list!
I'm sure it'll will end up being the STi when I start test driving, though! And with the horrible new hatchback, I can justify it even more by being able to shove my dogs in the back!

I think the Subaru Front looks bang on the back look ok but the rear archs are hidious in my opinion.
The Mitsibushi looks wrong from the front, just wrong, normal from the side and boy'ish/alfa'ish from the back.
Neither look as good as there predisessor but the Scooby does win over all on looks, they just need to sort them stupid rear archs out.

The front of the EVO is horrible, reminds me of someone with a square moustache

Too japanese for me.
The back is OK-ish.
The Sti looks much better than the standard impreza (which looks like a kia )
If only the japanese were a bit better at designing they would sell more cars.

I agree the concept car looked far better with it's 20" alloys, 1 piece bonnet and narrow headlamps. I also prefered the round wheel arches rather than the flared ones.
I do think the interior is better than the that fitted to EVO 7-9's.
Lets just hope the Impreza USA saloon gets the STi touch then gets imported to the UK.
