Very nice mate. How are you finding it compared to your Subarus?

After a few more years with the Impreza i'd like to move on to one of those.
I'd also be interested to know how it compares, what Impreza's have you had? I know they need servicing more often but are they really that much more to run?

Hi chaps. Ive had 2 UK cars, one Ecutek'd to about 270 bhp, an STi4 and a Bob mapped STi 5.

https://www.scoobynet.com/members-ga...hlight=history

The 5 was extremely quick and the power came in a huge rush - very addictive.

Its odd for how similar the Impreza and Evo are in principal, how different they are to drive.

When I first got it, it didnt feel fast. The power delivery is deceptive because its very linear, where the scoob delivers its power lower down and is less keen to rev. I added a downpipe, decat, fuel pump, intake and got Bobto map it and its an animal now!

To actually drive, the FQ suspension is too hard and does mean you can use the power as much as you could with a slightly more complaint setup. The MR model comes with Bilstiens, so I bought some nearly new ones, but never fitted them. I should have really. I do like hard suspension but this is a tiny bit too skippy on country roads.

In temrs of handling / grip its unreal. I do love the Impreza but its pretty clear these things are in a different class compared to nearly all models, probably bar a T25 or Spec C with DCCD.

It remind me of driving a Skyline a little bit. If you power out of a high speed bend, you think your normal limit is where the traction begins to break, where in fact thats the point where the AYC takes over and there is actually a lot more room left to keep the power down. It takes a bit of getting used to, and a lot of ***** to drive past what you think the limit is!

Given that, im really not sure what it would take to get it in trouble.

I wouldnt believe the people who say its point and click, there is still a lot of skill involved at driving that quickly round bends.

Servicing, well I dont think you need to religiously stick to the 4500 interval, I think 6000 would be fine. I have also started using Triton to service it and supply my own oil so its not too bad at all.

£45 of V Power gets 200-220 miles, and 260 on a motorway still driving hard.

So yep they do cost more than an Impreza, but not a huge amount more.

I love it! The other main thing is that I rarely see another one, and the car does have a nice image. You dont see many chav ones at all round here.

To add - I wasn't really looking for an Evo, I was after a JDM STi 03 in white, but after looking at a very dodgy one which APi Subaru tried to sell me (it had been in a smack and wa being sold as a good car) I realised there aren't many straight imports out there. I spotted this as a Ralliart UK car and went for it after having a go in a mates one (Glen4)
