SC008Y_MAD’s Scoobyclinic experience - Part 2
Oh boy, 1hr 45m; 130 mile journey on the M1 yesterday morning (Saturday 14th March) in the thick fog, I arrive at Scoobyclinic in the Rover 216Si. What a beast. As I park the Rover, I see a guy washing, what looks like to be my Impreza Sport on slope outside the office. As I walk close I see that it is my Impreza Sport.
The first things I notice as I walk closer to the car was the colour coded STi 4 mid-level rear spoiler, then I notice the STi (red/clear) tail lights which look mighty sexy if you ask me, then I notice the big 5” backbox.
Adam walks over to greet me and shows me my car and how great it looks. As I walk around the car I see that the skirts have been colour coded, a front STi 6 front splitter fitted and colour coded and sitting behind those gorgeous 16” Version STi alloys are some 2 pots painted in red (as I asked them to be) and some ‘Groovy’ front discs and I think Mintex brake pads. So now she stops.
Upon closer inspection I see there is a Whiteline 22mm rear anti-roll bar and some sexy red KYB AGX adj. dampers in each corner. This last mod was not on my list. There was a problem with my stock dampers with something breaking on all four of them and where now US. They did not have any second hand STi or turbo dampers amongst there ‘bits’ section so I had to go with the kyb’s. Coiled around these are the H&R -50mm lowering springs….hubba-hubba.
Borla fitted and hooked up to a Magnex 5” cat back with both cat left in situ and also a Green cotton air filter.
Kev comes over and tells me about the bodywork I wanted done i.e. the dings. They got all the ones out that I had so kindly noted on an outline drawing. Also some of you who have seen my Impreza have seen the horrible dent on the n/s a pillar, about halfway up which they got out and also replaced the plastic window surround as well. So who you will never know. I am well please with what they have done. Also there was a poor repair job on the o/s corner which they have ‘blended’ in and also done this on a few other sections/panels on the car. So the bodywork is as good it can be with out a full re-spay.
Now for the pier-du-resistance (sp?). I thank the guy who spent a entire day steam cleaning my engine bay after the previous owner so kindly painted it black. I mean wtf did he do that far, all it wanted as a good steam clean. And now I have an engine to be proud of. So thank you very much.
Old
New
We settled up with Adam who could not stop saying that it was the nicest sport he has ever seen. That’s got to be saying something from an employee of Scoobyclinic who see lots of Impreza’s every day.
I could not leave Scoobyclinic with out some free advertising for them, so Adam stuck a Scoobyclinic sun strip on the front window. Quite cool the method on how he stuck it on the screen without any bubbles and also square. All he used was a trade secret, water and a small amount of fairy liquid and a plastic card thing.
Then we where on our way, but not before some more photos
My dad, who came up with me wanted to go to Borrow Hill steam train museum, so I took him and I wanted to go to Chatsworth to take a few pictures of my car ste in a nice location.
After that I had pre arranged with James aka Daft_Lad to meet us at The Red Lion for lunch. The one that is supposedly in the middle of the UK.
Then we came home on what was a lovely day out. It could not have been better.
I just want to say a super huge thank you to the Scoobyclinic staff for transforming my lovely sport into what it is now. I am sorry for the ‘large’ list that I gave you, but I think it was well worth it just from the comments I have read fromt a few SN members that saw my car other the last few days.
I don’t know of any better place to take your pride and joy that is your Impreza to a place that take so much care and attention to detail as the lads at the clinic to. As they say, “Run by enthusiasts for enthusiasts”.

When I brought her last May this is how she looked.
Quite a transformation if you ask me.

Thanks mate. I never really liked the 17" inovite redlines that the previous owner put on. This version 2 STi alloys are much better and suit the car better to.

very good write up darren and I think we get the picture that you are quite pleased with the results
it looks very very clean and I bet you are liking the new sound you now have.
were the unscheduled mod (the dampers) that expensive ?
just asking as my think my standard shocks/dampers could do with a change.

Thanks all.
Yesy Chris, The KYB's where the unscheduled mod. They are £400 for the four plus fitting. But as they already have my oem dampers out ready for the H&R's they did not charge me for the fitting so to speak.
I have left them on how SC set them up on standard settings. There is a small dial on the top of the front struts that have 4 settings which you adjust with these little screwdrivers. The rears, im am not sure. All I was told I would have to get on my hands and knees to adj them.

Thanks Chris.
I have tried to keep the mods subtle, yet an improvemnet over the orignal parts. I think it works rather well.
Now my car stops, goes around bends (handles) and sounds like a true scooby should.

I like the new look Darren, looks quality. Sounds pretty damn good too!
Next I think you should go for the short-shift gear stick, cheap as chips and feels miles better than the standard one.

Paint, am not sure on as there are different prices for diffeent parts. Best thing is to phone them, but they usually like to look at the car before they give an estimate.
