Question Wanted... Rear Brembo Pictures

Evening Gang

I'm after some information please guys... I need some pictures of rear brembo's please.

Basically I have a full set of Gold Brembo's to fit on mine... ok the fronts will be nice and easy but the rears will take some modification.
I could do with a few pictures of the standard rear install... I need to see the rear dust/disc guard and how the caliper is fitted on, has anyone got any pictures of this with the brake disc removed so I can see how this all fits together.

I'm exploring a few options here on how best to modify it.

Many Thanks
Simon

Check out this thread:

https://www.scoobynet.com/projects-4...y-classic.html

It should supply you with all the information you need. It might be worth PM'ing rentonone for a bit more info too as he seems to be very helpful!

Thanks Ben I've read through the threads and been in contact with Scott and James about the mods they have carried out

Thanks for that James

I'm just exploring any other options on how to fit the caliper.... at the moment the existing disc guard needs to be cut back and a bracket fixed onto it, I had a good talk with a gentleman today thanks for that about the possibility of converting the new age sti dust guard that goes with the larger rear disc to fit onto mine which may be a viable alternative ?
Apoligies for not knowing the exact names of the parts I'm on yet another learning curve

This is the only new age pic I can find showing OEM fitment.

I would like to see it from the front with the disc removed if possible to understand how the parts interact together. It's a tall order I know but I think it may be worth exploring a little.

You need to remove the disk guard completley by drilling out it's spot welds.
If you clean the front face off, you can just make out the spot welds where it mounts onto the backplate.
Attack them in this area with a 6mm drill, then tidy up any burrs with a file/grinder.

This image shows a small countersunk drill mark where a spot weld was drilled out :

This image shows a number of them, and backplate has had a coat of black slapped on to tidy :

Scott thanks for that

I had looked at the possibility of a new age hub just out of curiosity as another direction to approach this mod but have gone back to the idea of making a bracket now.
I've had a massive stroke of luck today after going to a local specialist we use around here called "Ace Motorsport" I've got to say Andy's a top man and I've come away with a complete rear classic hub a disc out of the scrap bin

Happy days now as we can mock everything up we need on the work bench

Cheers Gav It's like planning a militry campain what you may not realise is until owning the scoob I knew absolutly nothing about car mechanics and as I go through the proccess of modding I then have an interest then to learn what makes what tick hence what must appear to be some very basic questions at times

Getting hold of a scrap hub has made this job suddenly so much easier let me tell you

And it would be a shame not to fit these rears if the opportunity is there

Make sure there the same size disks as you currently have, as the earlier classics had even smaller rears. Just in case it effects the caliper mounting holes.

Ok thanks for that Scott... we will also double check against the measurements off the plan that you posted from James's brackets.

If you are fitting the STi rears , Ian at Godspeed has had some shoes made up that are thicker than the standard shoes which will fit the larger drum of the STI 316mm disc , so you dont need to have a insert made and fitted to the disc , so simple eh !

I didn't need the insert either. I just fitted the slightly smaller WRX 01 294mm disk. Still a fair size bigger then the 275mm MY00 rear disks.

I'll get in touch to see what the costs are... must admit I am half way through getting my inserts turned out... we had a solid bar around 3 feet long by 200mm tucked away had to get on the fork lift and attach a strap to it in order to drop it in the band saw 20 odd minutes later we cut a lump off around 8 inches long.... excuse the pun !!
I managed to pick that up in order for my mate Clive to turn the chuck on it in the lathe drilled a 2. 1/2" hole out the middle and 1 hour later we are still cutting away back to it on Tuesday now as Clive has the day off.... I told him it was not acceptable to have Monday off but he swore at me

Smaller discs are the easiest way Scott that's for sure but since I have them it would be rude not to
