And would this be the poorly piston that helped propel you to victory over Swiss Cheese.

Certainly not good, good luck with it and just think, these things always happen for a reason, in this casse to make the car faster., certainly not to make you balance grow, but hey you can eat beans on toast for the next 5 years

I hate to say it, but yes, this was Piston no.4 in the "fastest scoob in Wycombe" winning car And I have to say that it appears even crazier to have run down the pod with that CEL on

erm, it needs a rebuild. So I can go cheap and basically give it standard parts, or spend more and give it forged pistons etc, but money dictates and money says it wants the cheaper route but I`ve decided to have some other bits done at the same time, including

vf28 turbo - (already got)
standard flywheel lightened
STi clutch - (already got)
decatted up pipe (already got)
possibly an STi TMIC
then a remap

who knows what else

**** Cliff gutted for you mate... Cheesy was explaining your findings to me yesterday, unfortunatly there is very little we can do to help you other than keep our eyes peeled for any second hand parts you may wish to source along the way. Simon

KEVWRX95 - the piston has broken up on the side as per the pictures, cause is yet unknown, but its possibly due to running lean on my Ecutec mapping

Kev (KJD) - We put the vf28 up by the side of the TD04 and checked the size difference, WOW!! unbelievable cant wait to actually feel the difference now

Danny - Every cloud does have a silver lining, but I need to find a rainbow with a pot of gold at the end of it

Glad for ya Mags
Im personally hoping that theres a god up there in the sky, and that he`s looking to give me a break in life, ie, a massive lottery win, a long lost really rich uncle, a sudden inspiration for a new invention which will net me a cool million, or a drunk santa clause who accidently delivers me a bag of money instead of xmas presents
But I wont hold my breath, i`ll just keep saving the pennies and one day they`ll add up to engine repair bill amount Although im wondering if Subaru parts will still be in production in 2050?!

Well, tonight the stories a little more complete.
Firstly, it looks like the head gasket has given up right by cylinder 4 as there is water down inside the hole for the head bolt, which has corroded too.
On closer inspection of the engine and associated parts it also appears my turbo is fooked as there`s play in the shaft. Add to that a knackered clutch and a scorched flywheel, plus conrod movement in cylinder 4, its not a pretty picture
And thats just the visible damage, im waiting to see whats happening internally too
