Smile Fitting an e-bay FMIC to a MY95 Turbo

Okay so I played it by ear but hopefully I took enough pictures so that others can learn from what I did

I'm not going to do a running commentry (slowest typist in the world!!) as hopefully the pictures will speak for themselves

Additional items I purchased:

Larger jubilee clips
Shorter mounts for underneath
Additional silicone hose (in red):
63mm x 150mm (x3) - for extra security & plus the inlet pipe was to short so needed cutting & re-joining;
70mm - 63mm reducer (for inlet) - Not provided;
38mm - 22mm reducer (for d/v) - Not provided;

I've seen other threads where it has been said that you need a 48mm 90 degree silicone bend to modify the turbo pipe under the inlet. I never had a problem and it fitted straight in

I don't know much about front mounts but top marks to you... that's a really tight fit under there and it looks great

Now time to sit back and let the skin grow back on your hands I bet !

Marc - Cheers fella

Simon - Oh god the pain I went through to get that to fit Cut's, bruises & definate burns from hot angle ground metal

Brian - deffo fella. Especially that weekend where I couldn't get the bumper back on again . Yeah I dunno how she didn't leave me that weekend after spending every hour of it in the garage Roll on the 30th

BTW what is it about fitting a FMIC that makes your scoob's wastegate sound like an angry horse? Does it after every gear change now & it still makes me smile every time

Cheers fella . Basically ordered it, made some mistakes, ordered some more parts to cover myself, played around over a couple of weekends and then fitted all the pipework today The FMIC was already in place from about 2 weeks ago when I did it so the hard bit was out of the way I gave myself a month to get it & fit it before my next re-map so thankfully it wasn't a rush job like most are

More interesting for me...yes...for the misses...hell no!!! I had some serious appologies to make . She's getting used to me saying "it won't take long" and then the unforseen happens and a whole weekend is gone LOL

Definately Mine was a bit of a freak beforehand running 296BHP with just an exhaust & induction. Then a Scoobyecu chip pushed that to 311BHP...on a UK Car

Be interested to see what the Apexi Power FC, AVC-R, FMIC, Headers, STI block etc...etc... have done

I'll prob take a spin down to Scoobyclinic or something

I had the mesh already & I can't remember where I got it from as it's been on there for ages. Had to modify it a little when I cut the bumper back some more

The hose I got from a nebay shop here http://stores.ebay.co.uk/quality-sil...toreviewQQtZkm

There's nothing in it at the moment as he's in the States visiting suppliers for the next week or so. Very reasonably priced and just as good as Samco. I did need to get the Samco bit for the dump valve from Rally Design as he didn't have the size I wanted in stock. http://www.raldes.co.uk/

wow what a result looks absolutly stunning. What would be the difference in buying this as opposed to a HKS one. Is it just the name you pay for, im a little behind on FMIC's

Also can some explain the following to me pls, the car in question i believe is a uk turbo, which I recall are around the 220bhp mark so the exhaust n induction kit increase the bhp by 70+ ?

N how does the power differ generally with a FMIC compared to a TMIC

cheers guys n again MAFFA, top job mate

Mate i've no idea about the power thing but I got it verified at two seperate rolling roads just to be sure and the results were within 1BHP of each other. Nobody could explain it & everyone was well shocked (most of all me) at the result

TBH i've no idea what the difference is between this & HKS. I think you'd need to speak to someone who's done some real extensive testing of them both and is a bit more technically minded than me. I just bolt the bits on LOL. From my point of view the difference was easy......£800

Top job - the FM looks absolute quality!! How much was the FMIC kit from ebay if you don't mind me asking and did you have to do any welding?

Do you have any idea where your front bumper is from or was it already on the car when you bought it? I've been looking for something like that (with the number plate recess) for ages! Cheers.

Cheers for the comments guys

Definately a one time job Angle grinding, dremmeling, hammering, bending, sawing....it goes on Fortunately though no welding required

Ben - The front bumper is a standard MY95 one with all the centre cut out and meshed up The front splitter is an MRO one but as you can see from the last two pics it was designed to fit snug in the recess & rest on the bumper. When i'd trimmed it all back it sat about 2 inches above the bumper in the recess which is why you can see the additional mesh down the bottom which is to stop stones and god knows what else doing down there
