Need to keep my eye out for that Mate, in Renfrew all the time as I work there and few of my mates are from there. What garage you get it from? what did you drive before?

Got it down at S&S Services in Ayr, used to drive a RX8 231ps, got so pissed off with all the things going wrong, when the gearbox went that was the final straw. I decided to cut my losses and traid it in for the scoob.
Only had the 8 for 5 months and lost nearly 7 grand on it

And a pic of the back with the HKS Exhaust

Graeme

ps
DONT BUY A MAZDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

because I couldnt afford the insurance with it on, I was told that if I wanted it fitted at a later date I would get a good discount (bearing in mind I got just over 2 grand knocked off the price of the car)

I think I will get it poss after 1 or 2 years when my insurance starts coming down

Recognise the mazda seen you kicking around in it before, in fact I think I blew you at the lights in renfrew in my GF's Corsa !! You will love the scoob mate, the sound , the looks you get and the power.

I bought my my00 Mica blue UK turbo from s&s last september, found them very helpful and just been back for my first service there and again very helpful and even gave me a courtesy car for the day....even if it was a forrester with dog hair included all over the seats at no extra charge!!

Hello there Miles, I am hoping that it was a Friday afternoon car heres my list of problems

1) car pulled slightly to the left (fixed sort of)
2) Steering wheel not on streight (fixed)
3) Disk hubs rusting (painted but came through again)
4) Rear offside pad not in full contact over whole disk (fixed)
5) Seat creaking when going roung corners (fixed twice)
6) Oil Light coming on when oil not low (ECU Reprogrammed)
7) Gearbox not wanting to engage 2nd or 4th on the way up when booting it, reported this to mazda, they said they could do nothing about it as I would have to boot the car to show them, they stated (??????????)

-A technition could not come out with me if I was going to break the speed limit
-A technition wouln not be ablr to drive the car above the speed limit
-A technition could not be spared to attend a track evening
-A technition could not attend Prodrive when I was going to be there or at any other time
-They could not listen to the Prodrive instructor as they were not Mazda technitions

a month went by and the gearbox got worse with 2nd not engaging when changing down from 47mph+ (2nd gear does approx 75mph @9500rpm)from 4th or higher gear without grinding and from 3rd gear it would engage with a loud clunk sometimes
Contacted Mazda again, dealer comes out and hears the problem and agrees the gearbox is goosed, then they have to try get permission to change whole gearbox which took 2 days, a further day to get the part no and a week on they still dont know when they can get a box. At this point I get pissed off and traid the car in
A member of the RX8 forum who knows somebody in Astra racing in Italy told us that there were no 6 spd gearboxes in Europe so there would be a long wait for a new box (all the time mine was getting worse)

8) Alloys corroding (Haddent mentioned)
9) Excessive oil use (used approx 8.5L of oil in 6000miles (shouldnt b more than 1L per 1000 miles) (haddent mentioned)
10) poor customer service from Mazda UK (arseholes)

to my knowledge there have been at leat 3 other gearbox replacements (1 took 3 months another took 3.5 wks)on the forum and I know of at leat 1 engine replacement on there as well
I realy did love the car to bits, it put a smile on my face almost every time I went out in it, I was gutted to be forced into the posn of traiding it in as I had spent alot of money on it both on upgrades (HKS Exhaust, K&N Induction Kit, S/S Strakes, lowering my no plate) and repairing it after some arseholes hit it twice (1st time slammed a door into mine and 2nd someone drove into the front of it and drove away in a carpark) but I was left feeling "what the F**K is going to go wrong next!!!"

My car was 5 months old with 6000 miles on it when I got rid of it

I should have been attending Prodrive ( as in Subaru Prodrive) today for the Mazda experience (Monday 11th) but thats buggered now

Graeme
