A couple of pics of my car.....
Ok, it's not a scoob, but i thought i'd put a couple of pics up anyway....
I bought it in November last year, from a middle aged guy who'd kept it garaged for the last 8 years and prior to him, a lady had owned it from new! - Last year, the thing had only done 40,000miles in total, and I've got a folder full of service receipts about 5 inches deep all the MOTs, billof sale...and the list goes on!
First off, I upgraded the brakes to Astra GTE items (costing £60 for the used calipers and new discs + pads ) and fitted some 14" rims that clear the larger discs. They're not great, but at least it pulls up now!
and then, I binned the 1.6 engine in favour of a 2.0 16v Cavalier item
I've been driving it around like this for a couple of months now, and have kind of got used to the appauling handling, and am on the lookout for some coilovers to sort the suspension.
I'm tempted to 'lose' the interior, spare wheel etc. in a bid to try and get the weight down from 830kg to 750kg
Anyway, It's going to get it's first outing at the 'pod RWYB next weekend (the other 1/2 may be bringing the Scoob too ), and I'd be chuffed with a mid 13 1/4 mile run
No 'abortion' body kits or Neon lights for me ...keep it looking standard.
So far, it owes me £1200 all in, and £500 on rolling the rear arches and sorting the rear 1/4 after some tw@t in a 4x4 decided to rearrange it in a carpark (thanks Littleknocks )
...Oh...BTW... I'm not going to be listening to any 'chav' comments, thanks...
Mods...If you want to put this in NSR, feel free

But good on you. Drive what you can afford and dont let people drive you off this BBS.

Superb looking example. Always fancied a nova gte when they could be bought new from a dealer. Looks to be in good shape, its certainly more respectable than a fair proportion of scoobs you see around, thats for sure.

Nice clean looking nova dude, a rare site these days.
Mate has got one aswell, he'l never grow up hes had it 4 years (only 22)
2.0 16v cos head etc and he was low 14s at Crail.
Problem is traction with these wee blighters but I guess you know all about that.
Good on you for keeping it standard looking.

Thanks for all your replies...
Gutmann pug...It certainly has got enough go to surprise the odd blue 4wd thing...
We were on the A16 heading out of France into Belgium yesterday, when a UK scoob came up behind us...I put my foot down a bit, and he *had* to come past me, when we were doing an indicated 140+ mph (the speedo was actually buried off the top of the clock ) It still had another 500 rpm to go, but I kinda lost my bottle there
Blue Dragoon...It's all declared to the nice insurance man....
27 yrs old...1 yr NCB...£700 TPFT OUCH!
Tiss...Yes, I put the motor in...It was one of the easier engine 'conversions'...It took just over a day to do from start to finish.

That is the major problem with this car...Being FWD, you just can't get the power down in first in the dry (in the wet it's a joke...you can't even floor it in 3rd without wheelspinning )
The surface at the pod is fairly grippy, so it should'nt be too much of an issue.
