I think AndyF has an STI7 scoop on his classic (a D R Motorsort jobbie I believe). I keep trying to find decent pictures of it as I want one but have so far failed.

Question

Are the STi8 scoops hard to fit on the Classic?
And are the original classic scoops esy to take off?

The original scoops come off really easily....just a few bolts on the underside. The STi8 scoops from Miltek are easy to fit as they use the original mounting points so you just slide them on and bolt them down. The good thing about the Miltek scoops is they retain the same dimensions as the original STi8 item. As the STi8 scoop is substantially bigger than the classic scoop, the excess sits on top of the bonnet around the hole. Some others I have seen try to sit the scoop into the original hole so they dimensions look totally wrong - too tall but not deep and wide enough and looks weird.

Miltek LOL

i don't agree, IMO the scoop should fit the hole, whats the point of having it sit over the hole like a universal one! it does come down to personal choice and my choice would be to get a scoop that fits the bonnet properly

car looks great, have you got a side shot, i like the splitter in black with the black wheels

I think the red car looks all wrong with that STi 8 scoop.
Think it's because of the fact that on the newer car, look about six cars down the row, the scoop is angled forward more i.e. it is set into the bonnet at the front.

Below is a pic of an STi8 style scoop that fits the classic hole.

As you can see, the dimensions just don't work....too tall, not deep enough and not wide enough. Below is the side on shot of my Miltek item.

The dimensions look much better and more in proportion. I agree that the STi8 scoops do look odd on the Classic but I chose it for function rather than form. Getting a larger replacement scoop for the early bonnets is very hard. I wanted a larger scoop to direct air to my replacement TMIC and my only option was the STi8 style (or get a whole new bonnet, scoop, headlights and grill etc).

don't get me wrong phil, i think your car looks great and as i say its down to personal choice, but imo the scoops should fit the hole in the bonnet, other wise you can get the universal ones for only £41.59 from http://www.needforspeed.co.uk/rgmstyling/index.htm

I know what you're saying but the Miltek scoop does fit the original mounting points perfectly....just the extra size of the STi8 scoop over the original sits on the bonnet. Yes, a universal item is an option but this will require specialist fitting which will cost mucho £££. All I did was take mine to a local paint shop to paint, unbolted the original scoop and bolted the Miltek item in it's place. It is worth the extra just for the ease of fitting and the ease of returning to original should I need to sell the car.

Has anyone got the small ets one on their car yet...
thats what I`m thinking of on my wagon.
Do they still retain the under bonnet scoops that feed the intercooler?

MMM I`m undecided as to which one to go for?
I dont like the large ets one, I do like the miltek one.
I`m wondering if the small STi 8 one is inbetween?

Decisions decisions..
